Mogul 6800 - No Sounds!!!!

Hello...

I am on my second Mogul now due to the fact that intermittently
all the sounds from the speaker stop working. (Ringer, Music, everything)

The sounds come back after a soft reset but it's very annoying!

I have seen other posts with people having this problem but no solutions.

I believe this is a software issue not a hardware as this is my second Mogul this is happening to (the first one I RMA'd for this same issue) and I have tried several different software products on the phone.

This is the what I had on the first mogul:

SPB Mobile Shell
SPB Phone Suite
SPB Pocket Plus
SPB Backup
IM Plus
Resco Explorer
Sk Tools
2kTweaks

This is what I put on the second mogul:

HTC Home (6 Tab)
HandySwitcher
IM Plus
Resco Explorer
SPB Backup
SK Tools

Both are losing all sounds after a period on time!!

If anyone can help me figure out I am periodicly losing sound I would be forever in your debt!!!!

start by removing the common apps, spb backup, sk tools and im plus seem to be common links and i run none and haven't had the issue.

Even before i installed some apps i was getting the same problem, i learned to live with it, just soft reset and done.

Thats what I heard so I don't think it's the third party apps...... There has to be a reason for this and thus a solution.... Having a phone a have to reset daily to make work just isn't right! I hope someone on PPCGeeks or XDA who is smarter than me can help figure it out.......

Hey Coke.... Why did you put WM5 on your Mogul? Do you think it might help me with my sound issue?

its a problem with im+. i tested this all out and for myself..... uninstall and than get something like pocket mechanic and do a registry swipe to clean out all the lil parts left behind after the uninstall.... let me know if thius helps ya... if you still want a messenger for your mogul try palringo its free and its supports voice text and also your favorite instant messengers. i run palringo myself and have no problems what-so-ever

short answer: because I can.

boring stuff: there were a few people itching to go back to wm5 cuz they were complaining about all the ram issues etc. I never had that problem, but i figured i'd set them up with the opportunity to test if they want to.

As has been mentioned before though your problem is software related and it looks like now there's a confirmation that it's one of the 3 you had in common. time to find an im+ alternative, but at least now you know!

My mogul has these same symptoms. It will quit playing any sounds. if you place your ear next to the speaker, you will hear a low 60 hz buzz or humm. when this happens, If I dont catch it in time. It will drain my battery really fast.

Interesting. I'm having the no sound issue and my battery life is very erratic, sometimes I can go 3-4 days w/o a charge and sometimes I barely make it through a whole day w/ the same usage pattern. I charged my battery all night last night and its down to ~40% after all day and only making a few calls/texts - no wifi/EVDO usage - and I just had to soft reset to get back sounds.

Maybe this buzz is what's happening to mine as well, I'll try to pay attention and check it the next time the sound disapears.

As far as software goes, I'm running stock. No 3rd party applications are intstalled. The only thing I have done after I hard reset the device is sync to get back my contact list.

Wow thank you everyone for posting!..... I will remove IM+ and see what happens.... I know other people have the same issue and do not have IM+ but this is definately worth a shot! Let's keep this post alive and try to get all the bugs out... I will let everyone one what happens with the IM+ removal.....
