Re: Setting Ringtones for text messages
yeah it seems that this is a bug that all wm phones suffer from. My friend has a dash, hers does it, the Q did it, my mogul did it, as does my touch. The irritating part is because you cant stop it, if two texts come in back to back, the phone plays the same song at the same times, but because they came in at different times, causes it to sound like irrritating mumbo jumbo. Ill be looking after this as well

Re: Setting Ringtones for text messages
Use a shorter ringtone. Google for mptrim and cut your MP3's down to 4 or 5 second clips for texts/voicemails, etc.
A tip on mptrim, when you use it, it cuts from before the part you want and after, so you need to find the point in the song where you want, and cut off time before there. If the part you want from your mp3 starts 15 seconds into the song, you would cut 15 seconds away. Then if you want the clip to be 5 seconds long, you would cut away until there's only 5 seconds left. This should all make sense once you see the program. |

Re: Setting Ringtones for text messages
huh? text message ringers have to be .wav files in the windows directory. it doenst matter the length, if i have a notification thats 7 seconds long, and i get a text and the notification starts, regardless of what i do because of this bug, it will play the full 7 seconds of the notification.
The problem starts when another message comes in WHILE THE NOTIFICATION is playing. does windows stop it? NO it continues to play the notification, then starts another one WHILE THE OTHER ON STILL PLAYS. So your phone plays both notifications, at the same time, but because the messages dont come in at the same time, the notifications will be out of sync, causing your notification to sound like a broken mix cd |

Also, I'm suffering from the same problem described above, my tones are like 10-15 seconds long, cause i like them that way, but it's real annoying when the text just keeps going and going and going. I hope someone can find a fix to this. -Slevin |
