What is the best free E-mail on PPC?

Hello all,

I have a mogul and I'm finding hotmail to be really annoying to get working properly on my PPC. So I'm considering swtiching to a different free e-mail system.

What's the best free e-mail? Gmail? Yahoo? Other?

What works best for automatically updating new e-mails on the phone?

What's better about IMAP over pop3?

I just set up a g-mail account i have it set to check every 1 minute and it seems like it's not getting new messages. Grrr.

Mail2Web is nice if you also want to sync all of your contacts, tasks, calendar entries, etc.

Hotmail works good for me, especially with Windows Live. You can set it to automatically check messages at 15min, 30min, 1hr, 2hr, or 4hr intervals. There's even a "As items arrive" option if you want to really kill your battery.

What's wrong with that?

I'm using sampson's WM5 rom so hotmail does not have those options. Even after I installed windows live and selected update every 15 it doesn't do it.

machtenx - have you gone into the setting in your gmail account through your computer and selected allow IMAP?

I'm a mail2web user as well. I love that I can sync my notes, calender, email, and contacts to my phone. So if I throw the thing in the toilet all I have to do is put in my username and password and boom there's all my stuff back where I had it.... Now if only I could do that with my cab files... hmmmmmm
