SOLVED!!! - HELP! :) cant sync - driver access denied

i just got my imagio
i have vista home premium 64-bit
rebooted both multiple x
installed the latest WMDC
every time i go to sync this with my hp laptop it finally says found driver but failed installation "access denied"
verizon was no help....

anyone??

Are you running as an administrator?

yes - i even upgraded to sp2 and nothing
and even rebooted and turned of uac and nothing....

maybe i have a bad phone - or is there an upgraded rom or anything?

Try installing the WMDC software in safe mode. Sometimes there are conflicts between 32bit and 64bit software/drivers.

Also make sure to check your COM perts you may have a conflict

Just ran into this today. this morning actually. I searched and found numerous fixes. But this is what worked for me(and thousands of other people).

go to- "start" "settings" "all settings" "connections" "USB to PC" than UN-CHECK the "enable faster data synchrinization box". Worked the second I did it.(after I checked out of the screen)
Let me know if it doesn't and I will get you the other fixes

ah thank you so much but no that didnt work - its so wierd - i have tried EVERYTHING!!!! if you have any other ideas id really appreciate it....

NO WAY!!!!!!! i thought you were going to love me. I went through the exact same thing this morning. My laptop has vista and I never hooked the Imagio up to it. it took me 2 hours to solve. Anyways, here is the web site that I got my info from. There are 3 or 4 things to do. I found my solution in a thread below(on this website).

But did you get out of that connection screen before you tried again? i unchecked and them tried to connect with no luck. It wasn't until i "ok'ed" or hit the check mark above to save my setting that it instantly worked after(next to the battery meter)

On the 'USB to PC' screen, the only thing checked is "ActiveSync (Sync with Outlook)". make sure thats all you have checked.

then they talk about "advanced network". Same section as "USB to PC" you will see a icon for "Advanced network". Mine is set to "PAP authentication". Look at that also...

Do you have the option to search Windows Update for drivers when it detects it? You should allow it to do that if so.
