Hotmail on EVO using exchange

After lots of searching I finally found a working solution to get your hotmail working with exchange on your email. You can access all your folders and use PUSH. Thanks goes to Aramos44

Here is a link to the user that found it.
http://forums.crackberry.com/f169/hotmail-activesync-htc-evo-530201/

Here are the steps
1. Download and install the attached "Email.apk". (You can install this with Astro file manager or Android Mate, Which can be downloaded free from the Android Market)

2. Download and install the app "save my attach". (Can also be downloaded for free from the Android Market)

3. Now your ready to setup your Hotmail Exchange Activesync account/s.

- Enter the Email app previosly installed and enter the following info for each account you wish to add.

Press "Menu" and click "Add account"

Username: username@hotmail.com (or @live.com)
Password: **********

Then click "Manual setup"

Domain\Username: \username@hotmail.com (or @live.com) make sure you include the "\"

Server: m.hotmail.com

Make sure you check both "Use secure connection (SSL)" and "Accept all SSL certificates"

Hope this helps. It did for me!!! If I have helped you please hit the Thanks Button!

I cannot get that forward slash "\" on any keyboard -- not stock, not swype, and so it's a no go. Where are you getting it from?

Make sure your on the newly installed email app and not using the HTC mail app. After I put in my email and password and then hit manual, it already had the "\" and my username. I just had to type "@hotmail.com"
This really works, im stoked.

Re: Hotmail on EVO using exchange

Thanks for your post. I would imagine this is Android's default email client, right?
Do you get emails in html, or is it plain text?

I'm not really sure about the email client honestly, I just know that it works, and works rather well IMO. I do believe the emails are in HTML format.

Re: Hotmail on EVO using exchange

I just tried it. It does work, however a couple of things:
1. Email is plain text, not html
2. If you have more than one calendar on Hotmail, only one is synced.

1. Yes you are correct, I am sorry for the bad information
2. I didn't know you could have multiple calenders in Hotmail, I really havent played with that too much.
Thank you for your help!

Re: Hotmail on EVO using exchange

Why not just use the included email app for hotmail instead of going through all this..???

The included mail app will not let you use exchange. It will not load your folders, sync your contacts, or sync your email. In my opinion it is just garbage. I know others have looked for this solution in the past. This email app is overall very friendly and easy to use.
