Android is open source. The google apps are not. In fact, vendors have to pay for licensing for the google apps. Gmail, youtube, google talk, the market and etc are not free. This is not surprising because google is not an open source organization. Also, how much less is android worth without the market? Google isn't being unfair by doing this. It's a business first and Google knows how to make bills, for sure.

Google may be profitable, but they have no real assets like large amounts of land, etc. Pull the electric plug, a high-altitude atmospheric nuclear explosion (like the US & Russia used to do when I was a kid) and they are worthless, shut down. It's "vapor-value".

Lands only worth what someone will entitle it to you. For example, Mahattan island was NOT sold for 51$ by indians, it was a scam that a handful of indians agreed to and it gave control of the island to the dutch, displacing the hundreds on it.

Plus i'd not want to own land on Chernobyl
