So I love this thing... But what the F@#*ck is up with the circle/D Pad?

SO i must say how freakin impressed I am with this device... Specs, Pics and reviews cannot explain what a HUGE upgrade this phone is compared to the touch... Thinking I may even skip out on the pro for size concerns...

But what is the center button for??? Is my phone broken?
I can only use the scroll/D-pad for up and down movements but can I not use it to go side to side? Is my diamond non-functional?

If I could just get my d-pad to work....

if you look at the circle you can press in the spots above or on the sides so look at this O for example you can press where the x's are

I want to say that it's just a design flaw, but there have been people that returned theirs and got one that worked better. So it may be a faulty phone, or it may just be that the keys are inherently hard to use.

I thought mine didn't even have directional buttons at first, but I've gotten used to them and am much better at it now.

my button isnt flush it seems the circle goes inward in the phone near the top. bah back to sprint

That's a great post, it took me a few hours before I figured that out myself when I got mine. Really crappy design by HTC on the d-pad though imo.

mine is also depressed in center button. left dpad hard to press though it works

Seriously, the phone is awesome. Why did they make a nonfunctional d-pad. I can truly only scroll up and down?

Any tweaks? (brute force )

One reason I am returning it for the Pro. And I know that the Pro is exactly the same the diamond, but at least with the pro we have the keyboard to substitute for the flawed Diamond dpad

I never use the dpad so it does not really matter to me. (Though mine does work fine unlike others who have posted)

i used touse dpad for page up page down on opera mini. 0 for 2 on that.
