12/18/2009 [UNOFFICIAL] v1.3 - CDMA MoDaCo ROM 1.3

I've had this up on xda for weeks, I figured I'd share it here as well with all the ppcg crowd as well!

12/18/09 Update
Here is my most recent version of the updated MoDaCo rom. I have fixed the version display info.

This rom should be safe to upgrade from stock or MoDaCo 1.1 roms.

Changelog:
1.3a:
-rebuilt properties file
-shuffled some apk's

1.3:
-no longer requires wipe to install/upgrade
-fixed ssh password in about screen
-fixed version info to show correctly
-all market apps should show correctly
-updated to busybox without color codes (this is for the windows users using adb shell)
-upgraded to latest relase of wifi tether
-minor performance tweaks and optimizations
-minor interface tweaks (new lockscreen, animations)

1.2c:
fixed issue with protected apps not showing up in market
reverted displayed version # in phone settings (sprint update is still there though)

1.2b:
fixed builld/version info
fixed force close issues for people who upgrade from MoDaCo 1.1

1.2a:
manually patched Sprint Maintenance Release to MoDaCo 1.1 rom.

Get 1.3 http://sardos.org/modaco_1.3a.zip.
Install from the recovery console. No wipe should be necessary!

Please post here if you have problems.

What are the minor tweaks and how is this different from Fresh?

I optimized some apk's most notably the rosie.apk which I managed to reduce to 930k-ish in size.

I see, great job buddy!
also thanks for the prompt answers. If you don't mind I have several more lol,

what are the speed difference compared to stock and which apps are in and which are out? I tried to find out from modaco's site but nothing was there.
Thanks for the great work once again.

Stock apps are all in place. The additional apps are wifi-tether and su permissions app (mostly a background service). Another thing to note, is busybox. It adds a lot of full linux usability back into to command line. Most people will probably not use that.

My official ROM will be out some time in early January. I'm flying from Hawaii to New York for Christmas and I intend on spending most of my time there with family and not rotting away making wonderful things on the computer. Once I get back though I do intend on going full steam on rom development. Wife and child permitting that is. I always place family first.

Re: 12/15/2009 [UNOFFICIAL] v1.3 - CDMA MoDaCo ROM 1.3

I have an HTC Hero CDMA
Firmware 1.5
Kernel v. 2.6.27-533ce29d
Build 1.29.651.1

I attempted the install of 1.1-update-heroc-modacocustomrom-core-signed
with success. However, I eventually realized I could no longer receive Text messages.

Reverted to earliest Nandroid, and then to original factory .img, but still could not receive txts.
Ended up swapping for a new phone at store once all attempts to fix failed.

Do you believe the 1.3 version of MoDaCo may experience this same issue?
I can swap the phone for free at the local Sprint store until my 30-day grace period is over. It's not long off.
Thanks for the input.

Forgot to mention.
May main reason for doing this is:
1) Wifi tethering
2) Apps2SD (I'm annoyed at the meager app storage limitation. VPN, etc. is a memory hog)

Thanks
