Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?
GPS enabled in Settings -> Location & Security?
Only other thing that causes sleep issues is BT enabled in WinMo before booting HaRET, and an app not releasing the wakelock properly. Have you ever seen a green LED? |

The GPS is not enabled.
wow, I turned the BT off before booting android and it goes right into sleep mode when I push the power button.... Amazing, Thanks sooo much! |

np, gotta trace the reason for that down... very annoying, as most users don't think about it (it's also a new bug, so it's not very well-published if that makes sense.)

It's a "new bug" only because we never had BT initialized in any previous xdandroid build. Probably we could patch the startup to skip the firmware load, since winmo already does it, but then we'd need two separate versions, one for NAND...

Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?
So far I am "unimpressed" with the android operating system. Annoying sluggish (partly my phone) and extremely DUMB in the way it does a lot of things.
the apps now. those are wonderful. some of the best designed apps I have ever seen. why exactly can't WM apps look like this? is there a technical reason? I do not like the android OS (very sloppy OS) but love the apps so I can live with it. so far its otherwise working fine. sadly can't get squareup to work (mic line??) and netflix works but won't PLAY anything (it tries) I can not get mine to "sleep" and I am guessing its the GPS. problem is I USE the gps functionality in a lot of the apps I use. in WM I would create a cookie toggle button to the the GPS "on and off" at will. is there a widget that will let me do this? ie tap it turn gps put phone to sleep tap it to turn it back on when I wake it up? |

Anyhoo, Netflix probably won't work with the existing video codecs. The screen resolution of our phones is WAY too high for the processor/GPU specs. The GPU our phones have really is not capable of pushing that many pixels... As for GPS, there's a widget - the power control widget. I've heard some people have issues with it. I never use GPS, I usually use netloc (cell-tower location). For most apps this is "good enough" (weather, etc). GPS being enabled (not even actively being used, icon in notification bar...) will kill sleep unfortunately. Well known bug. |

Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?
Hmm it must be in my other post (sorry my bad) but I did note (in other post) that a lot of the annoyance may just be a speed issue.
it just seem sloppy to me to list EVERY SINGLE FOLDER ON MY SD CARD (hundreds of them) that has jpg's in them. same with the music app. instead of letting me simply GOTO my "music" folder on the SD card it searches my entire SD CARD for mp3. why? I don't want to listed to my 1200 recorded phone calls (never got around to cleaning that folder out) or all my note files or all my gps directional files. stupid way to do things in my book. but like I said the point is the apps and those are truly great so far. and to be honest most of the OS aggravations do NOT need to be used very often. the stupid way it looks for wallpaper I only need to use once or once in a while so its a minor issue. can't use the music app at all though. got to find a music app that will only "look" where I tell it to look for music. I also notice some of the apps are "lamer" than their windows counter parts. example Slacker. great on WM. even better on Android till you realize they "stripped out" what used to be normal features to try and force you to upgrade and the ads are now no longer unobtrusive but in your face annoying. pity. most apps are least are cheap so not a big deal but slacker is NOT cheap $60 a year. but thats the vendor NOT android's fault. overall I am impressed with the functionality and impressed with how well it works on the TP2. its fun. and you guys are making great progress in fixing things. I never expected it to actually be usable but its pretty darned clsoe - close enough that I am going to leave it running on my boost phone long term and "see how it goes" |

hyc wrote a great post (here) on taming the media scanner, and actually submitted a patch. One of the few of his patches that was not accepted. The reason is was rejected is this is default Android behavior - and I agree, this is dumb. The solution? Listed here. There's a section called "Hiding your files from the Media Scanner" - basically you put a '.nomedia' file where you don't want the mediascanner searching. It's a solution, albeit a silly one. |

Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?
thats ok. I can put one in every single folder EXCEPT the media music and walls folder etc..
Wish there was an opposite function ie exclude all except though I guess thats largely me having so many folders Hmm windows won't let me name a file without a filename ie has to be *.nomedia hmmm got to figure out a way around that maybe rename it in the phone and then replug to windows to copy paste to all the folders. see if it will let me do that |
