Custom imaging?

Is there an active dialog about installing customized android images on the HTC Eris?

Eris hasn't been ROOTED yet.
But I believe there is an ongoing effort going on at the other site (which my mind is completely failing me right now as to the name... and for some crazy reason I don't have a bookmark). Unfortunately I think Eris is being pushed to the wayside as the Motorola Droid is stealing all the thunder. (I know I have buyers remorse, and know I should have opted for the 'Droid' despite not loving it's styling).

I've been waiting patiently for either rooting or the 2.0 update to come this quarter.

I know quite a few people that feel the opposite and wish they had got the Eris instead, so I guess its personal preference.

My other half has the Eris and loves it. I still have my Omnia which is starting to feel dated. Surprisingly no matter how much you beg and plead, Verizon wont buckle and let you upgrade any time you want, even after years of being a loyal customer and having 4 phones on the account.

That's strange, although I do hear this a lot.
I've had 3 manager's exceptions, 3 early upgrades on 2 of my 3 lines and have a pending 1 year pricing on my third line that I can use whenever I'd like. I've found Verizon to be one of the easiest to get an early upgrade out of, next to Qwest - who no longer has their own wireless division.
Of course, it could be that I pay $200+/- a month for their service, so they know they'll recoup the cost

Re: Custom imaging?

Inspired by your post I tried again, and have an Eris coming overnight (weather permitting) so thanks!

If anyone needs an Omnia, let me know.

So now I will be patiently waiting for rooting or an upgrade.

I find Verizon customer service in this regard to be completely up to luck of the draw (who happens to pick up the phone to talk to you). That's also why I typically have my wife negotiate... she's good at it and has that sweet voice (and can turn to hard-core bitch in a mili-second if they try to screw her over).
