Thumbs up Unique android apps/features (vs iphone)

Android people are quite defensive. When an iPhone user brags about his/her phone/app all we say - "we have this too". I'm tired of this me-too answer. And saying "android market is open" mostly means "there's more crapware in andmarket".

So, what are truly unique/superior features of the android? Let me start:
1. google voice app

What else can be added?

lol

I just like how easy it is to sync everything with Google. Plus the community is nice. That said, I might try an iPhone if it ever does come to Verizon 1/11. It's not that I don't like Android, I do, but I would like to see if I would even like an iPhone.

Thanks for Edwin/Rockplayer. I must disagree with the rest though:
- Live wallpapers are nice, but decrease battery life and slow down the phone
- Have you not rooted android?
- Most people wish android had desktop client. Look at doubleTwist - me-too.
- Most people use one carrier. If Sprint had iPhone I would not look at android probably.
- Screen customization unfortunately ends up simulating iPhone layout...

1. So? It is still better then what the iPhone can do. Also, battery life was not presented as a criteria by you so this is valid even if you don't think so.

2. He said for basic functions.

3. I like drag and drop and do not need to be linked to a specific program. Again, this is a preference thing for you but was not presented as a criteria.

4. And? iPhone is only linked to ATT so the point is valid.

5. Completely disagree with this. There are literally tons of themes that look nothing like the iPhone.

OK, Peace V

I'm talking about choice.
- Hardware is quite similar now, except for dreadful battery life on Epic/Evo.
- iPhone UI is superior to Android (in learning curve at least).
- Advanced users will always be unhappy with default functionality and will JB/root devices.

So lets imagine all carriers had iPhone, why would anybody get Android if they had a choice?

Some people just don't like the sterile iPhone OS. Also, I'm not quite sure how customizing the android desktop with Widgets and the sort is imitating the iPhone. The devices are so similar in features and capabilities that it really comes down to user preference. I prefer android. Had an iPhone and got bored with it.

Also, thanks blazingwolf. Not at a comp now, will push the button later.

Re: Unique android apps/features (vs iphone)

I wouldn't exactly say having an open market means more crap...since in the end run Apple actually lets the crap through..what they do block are "feature apps"..they have softened a little bit lately but have a way to go.

There is a large difference in hardware...as for battery some people got their Epic to do over 24 hours easy with constant use..some apps help with battery life such as Juice Defender...

Yes...in same way a Toy car is superior to a Ferrari in terms of learning curve ..sorry couldn't resist lol

I mean why not jsut give everyone in school A's so we can skip all these learning curves...

Yes..that is the nature..but at same time we don't want companies like Apple on purpose to to break JB/root every minor patch.

Why not get Android? why do people get PS3s when they can get xboxes? why do people buy Toyota when they could have Honda? Why do you have different things to eat for breakfast and lunch?

It is because we have choice that we hold the right to choose whats best for us

There really is little that sets an iphone over Android hence you hear peopel saying "We have that too"...iPhone is just a hyped brand...simple as that..similar to Verizon Droid series...its not better then any other Anroid phones but many people believe that its better just cause it has a more well known name :/

I for one would definately not ever own an iphone no matter what carrier has it. I respect the iphone for completely changing the smartphone game but like the previous poster said.. its a hype phone...
