I am actually working on this type of program for my CompSci senior project. It won't be finished for a little while, though.

and i wouldn't doubt that story. there is always a privacy issue with stuff like this, i guess that's why sprint sends out a SMS to the user. nextel is more buisness oriented so they tend not to send a notice.. the way i see it, if it's your account and they're your phones then i don't really see a privacy issue, so give the user the option to turn off the SMS notification.

Re: Sprint Family Locator app

There's a free gps tracking tool out there. I think it's molologo.com or mogololo.com

they have to your ''friend'' before you can track them, but the cool thing is that even when you're coming near a friend. you get their location.

I know. I was cracking the hell up. She cheated on me when we were together and I caught her by her text messages and picture messages. You would figure she would learn to do anything on a cellphone when the people your with know more about technology than you. Its really funny

Re: Sprint Family Locator app

the family locator doesnt send a sms to the phone everytime you attempt to locate the person. As best I can tell its right when you sign up and then every week or so afterwards each phone will get a sms saying that it can be located. It works on aircards as well which is actually how I caught her, she turned the cell off but had her laptop with her and left it on in the hotel.

It used to send sms every time, but I think you can disable it now.

Re: Sprint Family Locator app

I used that app extensively for close to a month and my ex got maybe 3 sms msgs about the app. The sms always said your phone can be located, Ive never seen one come through that said you were being located.
