any way alert someone while your on hold?

im pretty sure this cant be done but i thought id throw the idea out there anyway. actually come to think of this might be carrier side but anyway.... if im talking to some and they get a call on their other line and put me on hold rather than just hanging and beeping in on them would there be any sort of program or a way to send a soft but noticeable sound to them to remind them that you are still there on hold?
