I have seen an application for windows phones that sets off an alert and can send a text message automatically if a person has the phone on them and they have a siezure. I have heard of several years ago in a tech article about a theft deterrent (there was no accelerometer on devices when this article was wrote) they were talking about you set the sensor and it creates an algorythum of you like your gait when you walk and move and if the phone detects a different persons movements it will make the phone inoperable the article was about theft deterrent features. I don't know if anyone ever put it to use.. I would think with a sleeping app the bed does not move that much to make it work right but even a timed quiet wake up is supposed to help. my brother had a pretty good alarm it was just a light that got pretty bright and would help wake you slower than (BEEP BEEP!) The idea being behind that the suddeness of normal alarm clocks kinda shocks your body.
I can't beleive but it only took me 3 minutes to find something on it (could be useful if you sleepwalk etc too depending on what the app does I have not used the app. and this was like the first thing I pulled up on google)
