Cool Media remote control

I tried searching but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. If someone could help me find it that would be awesome. If it even exists I am looking for a program to control windows media center or at least media player. Preferably I would like it to work through WIFI but if not possible maybe blue tooth. Also, I haven't seen anything close but if there is a remote control program for the xbox 360 as well that would be extra awesome.

Basically I would like to be able to control my media by remote so I can be lazy and don’t have to go to the computer or xbox to change it.

Re: Media remote control

Maybe you can use Remote Desktop? I don't think they have integrated WM with Windows or XBox or Zune that much yet but plan to in the future (especially with WM 7).

This is pretty sweet software, but can take a little know-how to get it to work via the Internet connection on ur phone... Definitely works through wifi, though.

The one on the i730 would operate anything you trained it to, and it had a lot of TV's pre-programmed in. Find someone on the i730 forum (or search) and see if someone has it. I looked in my files, but couldn't find it on my computer or phone. If this site doesn't have a i730 section, I know pdaphonehome.com has an i730/i830 section

Re: Media remote control

I am just looking forward to the day when some manufacturer realizes that if they just slap an IrDA transmitter in the phone and release a remote control app they won't be able to keep them in stock.

The old Samsung i730 had the industrial-grade IR, and the software on it to use as a Universal Remote. I took the program and tried using it on my Mogul, but the IR was so weak you had to be within a foot or so, making it useless. The i730 worked across the room.

They did... they never sold that well. (see the old Palm devices, the iPaqs, and even the Mogul all had IR remote control programs). Never was a great selling point. Eventually the manufacturers realized it and started to replace IR with bluetooth technology.

Re: Media remote control

Wait does your phone have infrared? I think the old 6700s have a powerful enough infrared or even the 6800s that they could be used as a remote control for a TV.

Thumbs up Re: Media remote control

I've used this software to use some media programs on my PC. It's free and works well, will only work bluetooth connection.....
