Modified Today Search With Commands

this will automatically return 18882662278 and you will be able to launch it to call or save to your contact list

I have modified the Treo 700w WebSearchPlugin.dll to my server with a few commands to make it easier to do certain tasks

the only difference is you will have these commands as soon as you turn on your phone in the today screen.

the commands are listed on the demo page just try out the search commands.

I'm also looking for a few good mobile RSS sources to add to the /rss command so if you guys want certain sources please let me know

There are two ways to use this script.

1.) 700W / 700WX users WebSearchPlugin.dll goto your today screen options make sure the Web Search plugin is unchecked, plug your phone into your computer. click on explore on active sync. Afterwards copy the WebSearchPlugin.dll into your \Windows directory and replace the old one. soft reset your phone. after rebooting go to your today screen options and enable the web search plugin again and you're done.

To uninstall make sure the plugin is unchecked in today screen options. locate the WebSearchPlugin.dll and delete it the original is in your rom so it will put back the original. soft reset and check your today screen options again.

2.)Other users or if you dont want to go thru the hassle of replacing files. you can install Search Today http://www.cs.pitt.edu/~jmisurda/ppc/#SearchToday and for the parameters put http://mavick.com/f/s.php?q=%s

google local - default is google local just use it with no commands

msn local - what;where

driving directions -

 to get directions

search - /g search query google search

msn live search - /l search query msn live search

weather - /w zipcode for weather

rss news - /rss for news

moviefone - /mf zipcode for movie theaters and listings

imdb - /imdb search query for movie reviews

horoscope - /h sign
Signs: just use the first two letters of your sign

Capricorn = ca
Aquarius = aq

Aries = ar
Taurus = ta
Gemini = ge
Cancer = ca
Leo = le
Virgo = vi
Libra = li

This is one of those subtle programs that are very powerful. If you take a few mins to learn the commands you can quickly lookup any info with very few key presses.

All man just noticed the update now that dial thing is super sweet since alot of the 1800s I call are like that! Thanks Mavick!

Did anyone ever come up with any fixes for the Apache using this or trianglepowers.com search plugin? With my ppc6700 I can't use the keyboard since the numlock is permanently on. Pressing the symbol key doesn't help.

with your program, is there anyway to search a person's phone # using their name and city? (i.e. John Smith, Austin, TX)

I have the same issue with my i830w. Any word of a fix?
