Re: Google Pushing Gmail to Window Mobile

Why is there even an option to schedule sync times, if it is set to anything other than "AS THEY ARRIVE" then it would be no longer considered push would it?

If I put it to sync every 2 hrs where would this be any different than my IMAP??

Why can't this just work!! I mean I don't want my internet connection active all the time, I don't want to worry about battery life with shorter sync times... Why can't it just show my email WHEN I receive a email and not do anything else!?!?

Re: Google Pushing Gmail to Window Mobile

yeah i used to think like that. now it doesnt bother me. it is dumb that they have sync times with the exhange server. also i do hate that my internet connection is on all the time. i just said screw it and deleted the exchange server and kept my imap that is set to ever 1 hour.

unless i wasnt trying to hook up with a chick it wouldnt bother me.

Yeah the deleted items are there, along with all the other email. IMAP used to move it to the "Deleted Items" folder. Is there a way to still do this?

Edit: OK...I was still in the Inbox on my phone and not All Mail...its works. Sending "thanks" your way.

From my experience, as far as efficiency/battery life goes, using ActiveSync is better than IMAP (which of course kills POP3, which is awful).

So all else being equal, I would venture that 2hr Google Sync vs 2hr Google IMAP,the former would be faster on send/receive and better for the battery.

Just my 2 cents. If anyone has confirming/dis-confirming anecdotes or data, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Re: Google Pushing Gmail to Window Mobile

I had my gmail set up for IMAP to check every 2 hours until I decided to try pushing it. I have it set now to as items arrive, and I have not noticed any worse battery life. It seems like even though data is "on" it's not really "active" until it gets triggered by incoming items. I may be way off on that, but that's my experience.

So I assume that since this uses the one and only exchange account, that if I need to access two Gmail accounts as well as my work email, that Seven is still my best option. Seven works like a charm but costs me a couple bucks each time I flash to reset my accounts via international text messages. Small price to pay i suppose.

Re: Push Gmail Finally Here

Works nicely. The extra bonus is now when I flash a new rom, email is one less thing I have to re-configure!

Re: Push Gmail Finally Here

Anyone else not getting attachments with their emails? They worked fine under IMAP and they worked when I had an actual exchange email syncing. They don't even have the attachment icon now.
