recommend me an app (list or database?)

Hi all,

There used to be an app called jFile for Palm OS that was excellent. It was like a viewer or a simple database of CSV files for Palm devices.

I am not able to find anything like that for ppc. I tried the handbase but I find it cluttered, buggy and slow.

I simply have a list of 3000 students with contact and class info that I want to be able to view and sort on my ppc. Search function is needed as well.

Any ideas?

Re: recommend me an app (list or database?)

Ok, 3,000 records is not that small, though there are many that are larger. I have a financial one that has 5,000 records. Cluttered? That is normally a design issue if the Forms utility is used. Buggy? Well if you came from Palm OS, the cursor halo is not there. The newest release does ok on mine. Slow? Gotta look at that. If you are speaking of sorting data, then there is a fine chance that may be considered slow due to the memory that function uses. Did you install it to the device or card? Is the database on the device or card? I have HanDBase installed on the card and the biggest databases on the device.

You also have the option of Pocket Excel. If you haven't looked at the newest release, you should.

so, does it mean that I can design forms in a way I want, so the handbase displays the data in a different way? that would work, but I need to find a way how to do it.

Sure can. There is a tutorial available for download and bunches of applets in their library (I wrote a small number of them).
