App request - vonage talk mobile?
A MUST HAVE FOR VONAGE CUSTOMERS!!!
Vonage Talk is an open source program that allows Vonage customers to send and recieve calls from a device using the Vonage VOIP Service at no additional cost. I would be VERY happy to support the developer of this program, as would many others.... I'm sure. Vonage staff posted that you are free to compile for windows mobile. Source Code (c++?) is available (under gpl) at http://sourceforge.net/projects/vtclient/develop I have watched folks request this program on this forum and others ever since Vonage released the code years ago. It makes even more sense today. If you would also like to see this app, then please join me in pledging support to the developer. Last edited by englishpanther; 08-24-2009 at 11:48 PM. |

Re: App request - vonage talk mobile?
SJphone® is a VOIP softphone that allows you to speak with any other softphone running on a PC/PDA, any stand-alone IP-phone, or using Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) with any traditional wired or mobile phone. It supports SIP and is fully inter-operable with most major VOIP vendors and ITSPs.
SJphone for WLAN-PDA with Windows CE(stable): SJphone CE .cab for Pocket PC 2003+ v.1.60.303c, 10.26.05 SJphone CE .exe for Pocket PC 2003+, v.1.60.303c, 10.26.05 SJphone CE .cab for Pocket PC 2003SE+, v.1.60.303c, 10.26.05 SJphone CE .exe for Pocket PC 2003SE+, v.1.60.303c, 10.26.05 SJphone User Guide for Pocket PC 2003 (.pdf, 0.6M) Experienced users may want to install SJphone Advanced Help (self-extracting help file, 1.7M). It works with any SJphone, but may be installed and de-installed separately.

Re: App request - vonage talk mobile?
This is mainly referring to their submit to Apple for an iPhone App. However, it would be stupid to limit it to just AT&T customers, in my opinion.
So, anyway, maybe there's hope there for you Englishpanther! August 25, 2009, 5:42 pm Vonage Plans Mobile App; No Comment On Stock Move Posted by Eric Savitz In response to a huge rally today, Vonage (VG) said in a statement this afternoon that it “doesn’t specifically comment on short-term fluctuations in market activity.” But the company also noted several recent developments that may be contributing to the sudden enthusiasm for the company’s shares: “Three weeks ago, the company announced financial results which included record adjusted EBITDA of $31 million, positive net income for the first time in the company’s history and positive cash flow. Last week, the company launched Vonage World which provides flat rate unlimited calling to over 60 countries with unlimited readable voicemail (visual voicemail). Initial interest has been strong. Additionally, the company previously announced that it expects to enter the mobile applications market, which has garnered a great deal of attention in recent weeks and months.”I’m not sure precisely when the company announced plans to enter the “mobile applications market,” but what it suggests is that Vonage intends to take the Google Voice route and seeks access to the sacred space that is the Apple (AAPL) iPhone App Store. There aren’t a lot of details on the company’s plans for the mobile market, but simply putting the words Vonage and App Store in the same sentence certainly has the potential to spark investor interest. At the end of the day, what we’ve got here is plenty of tinder; why it burst into flames is hard to tell. Re: App request - vonage talk mobile?
Sorry, here's the latest update on it. They do say one of their prospective applications is for the iPhone. So there are others.
August 26, 2009, 4:09 pm Apple Says Vonage App Delayed By Technical Issues; Vonage Says Fix Made, App Resubmitted (Updated) Posted by Eric Savitz Approval of a request by Vonage (VG) to distribute a mobile VOIP application through the Apple (AAPL) App Store has been delayed by technical issues with the Vonage software, a spokesperson for Apple said in an interview this afternoon. “They submitted an application for review,” said Apple spokesperson Natalie Kerris told Tech Trader Daily. “There are some technical issues [with the code they submitted] that hopefully can be resolved.” Kerris did not elaborate on the nature of the issues with Vonage’s application. As has been widely reported, Apple last week said it is still reviewing an application for Google Voice, which so far is not available through the App Store. The status of Google Voice triggered an FCC inquiry; Apple posted a detailed response to the FCC’s questions late last week on Apple.com. In the response, Apple notes that it has approved a number of voice over IP applications that use WiFi - including Skype, Nimbuzz and iCall - but none that use AT&T’s 3G network. “There is a provision in Apple’s agreement with AT&T that obligates Apple not to include functionality in any Apple phone that enables a customer to use AT&T’s cellular network service to originate or terminate a VoIP session without obtaining AT&T’s permission,” the company said in the FCC response. “Apple honors this obligation, in addition to respecting AT&T’s customer Terms of Service, which, for example, prohibit an AT&T customer from using AT&T’s cellular service to redirect a TV signal to an iPhone. From time to time, AT&T has expressed concerns regarding network efficiency and potential network congestion associated with certain applications, and Apple takes such concerns into consideration.” VG shares today are up 59 cents, or 37.1%, to $2.18; that follows a gain of 99 cents yesterday. Author’s note: post has been slightly revised for clarity. Update: Here’s Vonage’s response to Apple’s statement on the status of the proposed app: “We can confirm that one of our prospective applications is for the iPhone. They identified one issue stating that it is “simple to fix.” The issue is cosmetic and relates to the labeling of an icon. We’ve made the requested change and resubmitted the application for approval earlier today.” Permalink | Trackback URL: http://blogs.barrons.com/techtraderd...ues/trackback/ Save & Share: Share on Facebook | Del.icio.us | Digg this | Email This |

Re: App request - vonage talk mobile?
Really what's the point of making an iPhone app??? So it can get rejected? So it can only be used via WiFi? They should really be looking at either RIM or Windows Mobile...Just another dumb company jumping on the bandwagon that is the iPhone...

Re: App request - vonage talk mobile?
A while ago I took a trip to Korea, and being highly dependent on my phone I spent a long period of time testing numerous applications on my ppc for use with the Vonage softphone service including sjphone. In short, Nothing worked. I tried every configuration humanly possible. There is a protocol that Vonage uses that limits it's use to one program only and only usable on a PC. So after many wasted hours of trying to find a good solution I was only able to use the PC as a softphone using Vonage.
Maybe something has changed since then, but I doubt it.
