Convert Speech and send it to Text or Email
Not sure this is going in the right place because you actually don't need to install any software to do this...
I've been using Jott.com for a couple weeks now in the office and so far I must say I'm quite impressed. It's a FREE service (while in beta at least) and all you need to do is register with the service with your phone number and email address. You then set up jott contacts with either an email or phone number to send the message to (I have one for Billing, one for General, and one to send true hands free Text Messages to my girlfriend). Then you simply call the Jott.com 800 number and say who you want to Jott and the service will automatically convert your speech to text and forward it on to your contact. To make it easier while driving, I use Voice Command to dial and then say my text message from there. It isn't always perfect (as you would expect) sometimes the transcription is slightly off especially when it comes to names. Also, if you take a long pause it will end the message and say "Got it" before you are done speaking. Of course you have the option to rerecord the message and/or send a second message after the first. If that isn't good enough for you, you can always click on the link in the email they send and listen to the recorded message. Also, to be prepared for the many emails you will receive for each of your jotts I would say it's a good idea to set up filters in Gmail to bypass the inbox and go straight to a separate folder to keep yourself organized. Anyway... it's a cool service and for free, I'd say it's definitely something you wouldn't want to miss. http://jott.com/ |
