Garmin Mobile XT and Topographical Maps?

Has anyone here used Garmin Mobile XT with Garmin's Topo 2008 maps? I can select both CN2010 and Topo 2008 when I create the mapsets, but I don't know if XT supports Topo. I have looked at Garmin's Support but not much info regarding this. As they only sell XT for my TouchPro on an MicroSD card, they do not have one that has both XT and Topo. If anyone here can help me out I would appreciate it!

Programs I am trying to use!
Mobile XT v. 5.00.20w
City Nav 2010
Garmin Topo 2008

Re: Garmin Mobile XT and Topographical Maps?

I got XT from eBay and downloaded it to my 16gb card.. Don't ask, don't tell. It works perfectly for me. I have not figured out how to get Topo on it, but I am sure it should work. You might want to go my route on the download. You have to check eBay every few days to find it.

If you loved the garmin units then you will siht your pants when you use XT on your phone. I have it on a Touch Pro. 4x the reolution = 4x the streets you can see. Also the Google Search feature is phenominal. It doesn't matter if the place you are looking for is only a month old just type it in and search and go! This app works with or without cell service. Search features construction updates and fuel price search with data connection. Routing no problem with data stored on MicroSD card without cell connection. I would use no other brand or program when it comes to GPS. Map data takes up about 1.2gig on card.

Re: Garmin Mobile XT and Topographical Maps?

It does work. I selected some areas from the topo 2008 mapset and transferred them to my phone. The topo map worked just fine, but it overwrote my original map so I went back and loaded the original maps. I wanted it for lake detail, but on my Diamond, the details such as boat ramps, did not show up. Now that I think about it, setting the map detail higher in settings may have fixed that. But yes I was able to load a topo map to the phone!

Edit: Found this file GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx now have voice. Nice Program!!

Re: Garmin Mobile XT and Topographical Maps?

So basically I will have to load the topo maps and XT software on an additional card and just pop it in when I want to use it for topo. Ok I guess. I have to do the same with the Garmin handheld that I have. Thank you for an answer. I have been using XT for a few years now. The current version is superb. Only flaw I found is not really Garmin's fault, but when you set detail to highest, it causes a lag.
