Mocha FTP server question

When I run Mocha FTP Server with device connected to PC via USB cable, Mocha FTP server shows an IP of 192.168.55.101. (IP given to the device as part of the ActiveSync connection). But I can't connect to the server using Filezilla on my PC. And I can't PING the device at that address either.

But once I established a wi-fi connection between my device and router, and restarted Mocha, Mocha showed an IP of 192.168.1.106 for the device, and I was able to transfer files between the PC and device using Filezilla on the PC.

I suppose the wireless connection is faster (54 Mbit) than the USB 1.1 connection (11 Mbit) anyway, but I do wonder why I can't ping or FTP to 192.168.55.101. If it were a 400 Mbit USB2 connection, it would be a very different thing.

Any help?

(p.s. using a T-Mobile Wing (HTC Herald), running Windows Mobile Professional 6.0)
