Email on winmo vs iphone!!

I am so jealous sometimes. Why does the iphone have such a smoother email app?

I have a TP and an iPod Touch. Both access my gmail account through IMAP.

On the iPod, click refresh and new emails pop up instantaneously. On the TP, click send/receive, ****s around for a couple seconds, then loggin on, recieving folders, recieving headers, doing this, doing that, then the emails start showing up, it's just ugly.

In terms of sending emails, it's so much better on the ipod touch as well. Granted you can't attach files and stuff, hitting send, sends the damn email. It doesn't screw around.

Plus overall readability is so much better. When i look at my inbox on the TP, i have no idea what any email is about. On the iPod Touch, it is so simple and nice. Sometimes, I even prefer reading emails on the iPod Touch over my desktop.

Oh dear lord. *PUTS ON SUNGLASSES AND FLAME SUIT*

The apps are fundamentally different, it is like comparing apples to oranges.

Re: Email on winmo vs iphone!!

LOL why bother with IMAP on windows mobile at all? Seven Beta is justice severed over Push Gmail, Yahoo, Live mail etc...

Seven Beta email, FREEWARE unlike another sad WinMo push email service.
http://community.seven.com/forum/main.php

Besides I like to hit send & it sends the email & the attachment/s on my Windows Mobile.
And I like to receive instantly and automatically rather than worry about hitting send/receive.

Syncing my Goolge Calendar & remote contact search is an added freebie from Seven too.

I do agree about the readability but as far as the other features go, you can get them free for your phone y'know?

Re: Email on winmo vs iphone!!

I have both, TP and iPod Touch, I never use my iPod for email, I'm not all that impressed with that side of the device. I like it's music, video (bigger screen) and a few games, that's about it. I prefer my TP for email and everything else, and I don't need wifi

You got me all excited about the seven thing but I can't get it to run on my TP n. Gives me critical error, something about an unhandeled exception

Re: Email on winmo vs iphone!!

Its actually sort of shameful that the outlook mobile email clinet has not really evolved at all in over 10+ years, especially with viewing email. Html email is basiically unreadable on winmo whereas it is a pleasure to navigate and read on an Ipod. I honestly believe that Winmo OS engineers must be the bottom of the barrell when it comes to common sense logic and gui. Since WinCE 2.0 I dont know how many times I have heard about all the changes coming to improve the os in the next release, only to have basically the same OS with basic tweaks that often dont improve anything but actually make it harder on independent develpers because the changes unneccessarily break existing apps.

Apples to oranges? Fundamentally different? Fundamentally they are EMAIL clients to READ email and Respond. Using the EXACT same protocol IMAP and there is no comparison. Winmo which has been around for a LOT longer sucks terribly. Iphone/Itouch is a pleasure to use.....

Re: Email on winmo vs iphone!!

I agree with the OP 100%.

I have three TP's & a 16 gig 2nd gen ipod touch & I rarely use the TP's for email anymore (I tether the ipod with WMWIfirouter daily)

the APPLICATIONS are different, not the way they handle pulling/pushing email. its comparing the itunes, and sprint music store, they both are used to download and listen to music, but the applications are different.

As far as email, i use my Pre to view/send emails and the only reason is because i get the storage mem low error when i set my email up on my Diamond.
