Re: Google Voice Dialer for WM
Well, after using gvdialer for the trial period, I am kinda reluctant to go ahead and purchase it. Here's my review:
Likes: -Uses stock dialer (keeps smart dialing working) -Very simple to setup and use -Don't have to put a whole lot of thought into using it Dislikes: -Proggy sometimes takes too long to intercept the outgoing call (I've seen a call go through and be "connected" for over 10 seconds (person ended up calling me right back wondering who I was) -No option to set a default dialing option for different contacts (ie always call my wife directly, always call john boy via gv) -I have no clue how to implement this, but sometimes when you let someone else borrow your phone to make a call, you have to go the extra step to tell them which option to hit after they hit talk. It'd be nice if there were a quick way (one/two clicks max) to put it into a "borrowed" mode or something like that -One thing I noticed is that if I optioned to dial through GV and I was in a noisy environment, GV wouldn't complete the call and would think I was issueing voice commands to it. It'd be nice if gvdialer were able to mute the call while it did it's business with gv. -SMS would also be a nice addition and would definitely make me want to actually purchase the program Overall, I think it's a great program and I'm sure that as it develops it will get better and better. I do miss the ease of making a GV call but until things come along a bit, I'm content with doing things the hard way (plus I'm usually at a desk on the net so it's easy to dial from google's website). Hope that helps! (btw, even with the cons I listed, I would still recommend this over the idial solution because I feel gvd has more features and is much easier to use than idialer)
