Re: S2U2 v2.02 is Now Available

Hey all,

S2U2 2.02 is better than ever! It has made me love my phone again!

However, I am trying to narrow down an issue.... After a few hours, S2U2 won't activate via my power button, and when I go to the settings and hit SAVE, it says that it can't initiate the lock2.exe programs (the exact name of that app escapes me, but you know what I mean).

I am trying to see if it's Resco Contact Manager, or heavy browsing on Opera that does it... Not sure. Anyone have issues with this stopping due to high memory usage, and WM closing it?

Also, I can run S2U2 perfectly via the icon ANYTIME, it's just the power button/sleep activation that goes away...

Thanks,

Matt!

Are you running any scheduled memory cleaners? htcAddicts CleanRAM, or SKTools, anything like that? If so make sure you add ilock2.exe and s2u2.exe to their exclusions list...

Same happens to my Diamond.
Happens infrequently and a soft reset resolves the issue.
I have plenty of memory left.
As you said, it may be related to opera etc. It also may be the way it gets along with other apps and under certain circumstances the issue comes up.
But at this point, it does not matter to me because of the infrequency of the issue occurring.
Otherwise, S2U2 v2.02 is running really nicely.

Corey,

Thanks for the heads-up.... I am using CleanRAM on level 2, and DID have ilock2.exe properly excluded, however I DID NOT have s2u2.exe excluded, I didn't think it think there were 2 associated proccesses....

Seems to be working like a charm! I can't even get it to fail if I try!

Thanks again,

Matt!

No problem, I also use S2U2 and CleanRAM, so I learned the hard way :)...

Don't forget that green "Thanks" button ;)

Glad it worked!

Quick question......I don't want a wallpaper to show when S2U is active, but rather my Home screen....is this possible?

No. When S2U2 is active, you get it's screen... I use the full screen battery meter when locked... It's useful and nice lookin.

I've used 2.0 & older versions of s2u2 on my treo pro & it still freezes up! once again I feel because the treo pro is such an unpopular device no one makes programs or bug fixes with the treo pro in mind, the pro is like the black sheep of the smartphone family

Im having a major problem, and I dont know what to do because I seriously love s2u2. Everytime I do a soft reset, the first phone call I get, caller id doesnt work. My phone will ring or vibrate, but there is no way to answer the call .Even if I unlock s2u2, the call is invisible. So every time I softreset my phone, I have to call myself from another phone to get that first call out of the way, otherwise I will miss a call from work like I did this morning. I have an Omnia, and the battery life sucks for me since I use push email, so I have an extra battery on hand at all times, which means I soft reset my phone to change out the battery almost every day. To have to call myself from another phone everytime is too much hassle. I hope they fix it, I really really want to keep s2u2, I finally got every other problem I had with it fixed, this is only one left...

not sure it will help, but here's a script I wrote last year.
if it does the job, you could add a wait time to it and add it to the startup folder.

also have you tried turning off CID?

I experienced a nagging email notification on the startpage...even though I unchecked that box and had no email pending...also text on startpage was hard to read...the date was fuzzy looking...and yes I also unchecked the text effects. I have an HTC mogul.

This is nothing new. It's been a problem for a while now. I'm surprised that A_C hasn't fixed it yet. It must be a major issue for him to have not figured out a fix. My suggestion, call yourself after a reset so it doesn't happen.

Shaggy, was this directed at me for the problem with the first call not coming in? If so, thank you so much. What does it do exactly?

So you have it too? That is what Ive been doing, just calling myself. It just sucks because I mess with my phone alot and have to soft reset, not to mention I switch my batteries out since I use it so much, and that requires a soft reset. Its not the end of the world though, Im still going to keep s2u2 on my phone.

Yeah, I have this problem too. Like I said, it's been around for a while now.

And back to having to use the power button to wake the phone...I have settled on the fact that it has to do with the Blank Screen Only option in S2U2's settings. I have gone several days with that option set to Off and been fine. But, if I set it to on, the problem arises within a few hours.

It has to be something with that option and the fact that the Omnia does a lot of things differently than other PPCs, including how it blanks the screen.

You guys may want to check out this quick-fix A_C just posted, it seems to address some of the issues being talked about here:

This hot fix v2.02c is only applicable to v2.0x. It only contains the iLock2.exe & S2U2.exe. It fixes:
- the notification queue warning will only be shown once after update (but I still suggest you clean it when the warning is shown, please try Memaid or dotfred's TaskMgr)
- CallerID did not work on some devices (e.g. Spainish)
- after soft-reset, the first CallerID would not be shown on some devices
- improved Ans/End response
- some hardware keys not locked on some devices

If you experienced any one of the above issue, please try it out & let me know the result.

BTW, as I don't want to pump up too much post on this thread, I may send a private message to follow up your case. So please read your PM. Thanks.

Re: S2U2 v2.02 is Now Available

OK, I tried the new fix, reset my phone, called myself, and the call went through ok. So far so good, I'll keep trying it to see if there are any other new glitches.

Edit: What do you guys have in the S2u2 settings, what do you have under this setting: "On wake up, delay (ms) start of S2u2", and also what do you have under "Boot-up Delay"? Does it help to delay any of those things, or is it better to keep it off?

Biker1 06-30-2009 03:58 PM

Re: S2U2 v2.02 is Now Available

There was a post awhile back regarding:
adding s2u2.exe and ilock2.exe to the cleanRAM exceptions list to avoid:
S2U2 not starting and iLock2 not working. That solution worked for me temporarily which means it way have never worked and had been a coincidence because shortly after,I had the same issues and only a soft reset would help resolve the issue.
I still don't know what is causing the intermittent problem.
I think it is a conflict with another app.
The question is which one?
I don't feel like deleting and adding apps so the intermittent problem is ok.
Btw, when the issue arises, the green is missing from the S2U2 battery.

Thanks for answer. I guess what Im trying to fix when I mess with that is this: I have an Omnia, and when I get a call, for a second my regular incoming screen pops up, before it switches to the S2U2 caller ID screen. It looks unseamless, if that is even a word, hopefully you know what I mean. I know Im being picky, but since Ive solved most of my other problems with it now I have that little thing to nitpick on lol. Does anyone else's do that? I have the Omnia by the way, may just be an omnia thing

I ran into the exact same problem. The solution so far that I have found and it is still working is that i added a shortcut of S2U2.exe under programs to the startup file. This has resolved my issue and is working just fine for me for the last couple of hours.

How do you create the shortcut for s2u2.exe in programs in the start up file?
I saw ilock2.exe under Device > Windows > StartUp which is where I tried to create the new folder. Is that the correct file to put it in?
I got up to where I created a New Folder but was unable to add to it.

Very strange, been rock solid for me... Although I do tend to cook my own ROMs and reflash every couple of days, so I suppose I just haven't run it long enough to stop working :)...

Sorry you're having trouble though :(...

I'm considering trying a different memory cleaner as CleanRAM does seem a touch finicky at times..

Now at least 5 times a day S2U2 doesn't start and I have to soft reset. A real pain.
I toggle the power button and I just get my home screen.
Sometimes iLock2 works but S2U2 does not.
Would still like to know how to create a short cut for s2u2.exe in the startup file. .

Re: S2U2 v2.02 is Now Available

v2.02d seems to be doing the trick.
S2U2 is starting up with no hiccups so far.
When I toggle the power button off then on, sometimes the home screen appears for a split second but then S2U2 starts.
Before the Hotfix, S2U2 would not appear, and just the home screen would remain.

UPDATE:
It is not fixing my previous issues.
1) S2U2 not starting on power off on toggle.
2) shortcut starts S2U2 but the battery is missing if green inside color. Plus does not start again anyway when power button is turned off on.
3) iLock2 does not start.

Regarding v2.02d, I go to view the zip files but says access file denied. I go to extract and overwrite. But so far does not fix my issues.

I am spending too much time trying to resolve this issue so maybe I will just continue to reset or download version that does not have this issue.
v1.52 maybe.

I don't have PocketShield but there is no power drain with S2U2.
You can download S2U2 and check power usage with a Task Manager application. It should read 0.00 CPU usage and occasionally read 0.10-1.20 which is normal and does not have any adverse affect on battery consumption.

What is the proper way to apply the 2.02d hotfix?
I want to make sure I am doing it correctly.
Usually with a zip, I View it and it downloads.
when I click on S2U2.exe it says no file access.
I extracted it and it works.
But I don't see it so my File Explorer.
Give me a hint :)

Umm, what I do is I unzip it on my computer. You and up with the Ilock2 thingie and the s2u2 thingie (I dont know what to call them, i know one is an exe, but hopefully you know what i mean). ANyway, on my phone I use a file explorer to go into program files, s2u2 folder, and in there you will have two icons that look the same as the two you downloaded. I delete both. Then I hook my phone to the computer, and transfer the two ilock2 and s2u2 icons into my storage card. Then I go back into file explorer on my phone and transfer the two files into the program files/s2u2 folder, where I had deleted the old ones.

That is obviously not the most technical explanation lol, hopefully it helps though
