Re: S2U2 v2.00 is Now Available

The site may be a bit busy, I would say just keep trying to download, I just did as well, so it is there. To all the battery issue people, I would say just give it a shot and see how it is. A_C mentioned he has tested it on his device for about 6 months without issue, but to be fair, our PPCs are a lot like fingerprints in that we all install different apps and tweaks. If it works GREAT, if there is a battery issue, maybe post the device and other apps/tweaks running and someone in here or XDA can suggest a change or confirm it is the device.

Re: S2U2 v2.00 is Now Available

I just downloaded it.

The issue was that I was getting a white screen when I clicked on the download vga version. I had to flick the screen to get to the manually download prompt.
I'm using the new opera beta.

I gotta say that the xda thread is alittle hard to keep up with regarding troubleshooting as it has over 200 posts and 18,000 hits already
Every time an issue is brought up, another one is around the corner so it makes it difficult to see what the answer is, if any, to the previous issue was.

But with 4gb of storage on the Diamond it is a non issue, at least for me.

My memory patterns are a little weird and I admit, I don't know much about power management. I use Dashwire which keeps data open (I think?), but when I go out and I need the battery to be yoptimal, I close Dashwire.

My memory tab shows this, with Dashwire running in the background using 2031K:

ISSUE:
I have S2U2 password lock set to 4 hours but it activates every time I soft reset or remove the battery.
I have the Diamond password set to start up.
I removed the Diamond lock and still have the same issue.
This version seems alittle buggy.
I may go back to v1.62 as it was working nicely regarding password lock and other things.

A_C's threads always garner a lot of attention, but if you feel more comfortable here, there are a lot of us (me included) that keep up on the XDA threads as best we can, and would be more than happy to help out here if able!!

Dashwire used to kill my old device, I haven't had the time/nerve to try it out on my Omnia yet. That is pretty good Program memory. Here is mine with S2U2 loaded + running:

Storage: Program:
Total: 133.42MB 97.11MB
In Use: 80.94MB 50.20MB
Free: 52.48MB 46.91MB

(I also haven't relocated iGo8 to my storage yet, so a big chunk of memory in storage is used on that!!)

Is that the only time it pops up without waiting the 4 hours? Mine does that occasionally, but only after everything is all loaded and S2U2 acticates the first time, not immediately after reset.

Thanks for your offer to help out regarding the xda thread :)
As for the locking issue on reset, it happened every time. I have read that others also had this issue on soft reset.
I decided to download v1.62 as I had it running smoothly.

I use it primarily to send text messages through it's website. If there's an alternative with better battery, I wouldn't be adverse to checking it out.

Also, what's the difference between storage/program memory?

Re: S2U2 v2.00 is Now Available

I downloaded v1.62 and continued to have the same locking and freezing issues.
I deleted S2U2 completely and
it took since my last post to get my Diamond back to normal.
I am confused as to what is happening to say the least but
I will download v1.62 again.

UPDATE:
So far, so good.

I just got off the XDA thread, and apparently this is standard behavior (the password lock thing) after a reset now, by design.

Note: Thanks a lot A_C, u make Window Mobile lock screen as good as Iphone (or even better). Now download V2.01 to try out.

Cheers....

A_C's answer:
If password is enabled, S2U2 will lock the device after soft-reset. No matter how long the password timeout is set.

Storage is just what it indicates, it is the memory you have available to store apps, data, files, contacts....whatever you want on your device, Program memory is the part set aside by your device to run the OS/apps from. You will see that the more apps you have running at once, the lower MB you have left. When the MB level in that part gets too low, that is when you see your apps starting to close automatically!!

I know what you mean about using DashWire for texting on the PC, I did as well (and may again, I'll see) there is another out there I haven't used in a bit that I think was better on battery: https://beta.flexilis.com/

Re: S2U2 v2.00 is Now Available

OEM is the version of an app you can cook into a ROM (like how a CAB is used to install on the device). so if you have the OEM version of S2U2, you can cook it into the device's ROM to save memory. I didn't know A_C released an OEM of this.

Re: S2U2 v2.00 is Now Available

Thanks for posting this. I am excited to try it out.

Sorry for asking a dumb question, but my interpretation of the changelog isn't the best. Does anybody know if the bug with MightyRoms S2A has been fixed? The one i'm talking about is when recieving a call using Mighty5, the bottom half of the screen is still my S2U2 background until you tap somewhere, then the slide to answer / ignore comes up.

Re: S2U2 v2.00 is Now Available

My Diamond just got all screwed up :(
Out of commission for an hour or so.
S2U2 was only showing on the left hand of the screen and only bits of it. I could not get the Diamond to do anything. Soft resetting didn't help at all.
Diamond was locked and could not unlock it.
I finally plugged the charger in and the Diamond was back to normal.
I then deleted v1.62 but I don't know if that is the cause of these issues.
Btw, I was still having locking issues after soft resets even with v1.62
I don't know what is going on and what is causing all of these issues.

Btw, I had 19mb of storage memory (not internal storage) left and then I cleared cookies with ClearTemp and now I have 30mb!

I really haven't seen this mightyROM issue before, I would say give it a shot and see what happens, maybe you will be pleasantly suprised. I have found a lot of bugs get inadvertantly 'fixed' by a new version just doing something differently.

(if it doesn't work, at least other people with this condition will know if it works or not after your report :-D )

Not to sound obvious, but are you sure you are using the correct version? If I am not mistaken, the Diamond is VGA, so you need the VGA S2U2 file. After you uninstall I would also get into the regestry and delete the S2U2 string and then soft-resetting the device. That way if you decide to install again or not, your starting out fresh without risk of any previous glitches still being there!!

Tested after recieving a few various phone calls. I no longer get the missing Slider and Mute buttons. Now I get my Incoming Call WM6.5 notification popping up for some reason. Either way, I call this Bug Fixed... Thanks AC!!!

Thanks for the explanation. So, all the programs I install to "Device" shows up in "Storage Memory"? If I add a new contact, it'll take up "Storage Memory? "Program Memory" is simply memory that lets programs run, like RAM on Windows boxes.

I might try Flexilis. I hope it works. The texting from my desk is awesome because I don't like using the phone for texting when I'm working at a computer desk all day.

You got it, but contacts take up minimal memory, so that isn't really anything worth worrying about!

I just tried flixilis again, and it doesn't support PC texting yet. They have been working on it, so I guess we can hope for something soom. I am going to try out DashWire again. I'll let you know if I see anything else, or more word out of Flexilis.

Code:

Changes of v2.01
- fixed when CallerID was off, system might hang after receiving an incoming call.
- fixed the S2U2 Settings could not browse pics/files.
- reverted the sound codes (lock/unlock sound) for faster performance, but also removed the support to MP3.
- non-exist wallpaper file setting will show a black background.

Haha, good timing.. I was just about to install Flexilis. I wonder if MyPhone has any of this? It would be great if someone makes a software like Dashwire that also does email pushing like Seven does to minimize running of apps and save on battery.

Infact I want to integrate it with open source PBX systems to do some kind of click to dial functionality. Much like how Dashwire invokes Skype on your PC to make the call.

Good idea regarding deleting the S2U2 string.
I will do that next time.

I am running v2.01 and still have the volume issue so I disabled it.
Still have the locking password issue also.
Its getting alittle ridiculous.

UPDATE:

Don't ask me what I did differently because I would not be able to tell you :)

increasing speed

Great app

S2U2 starting time can be safely shortened by compression with UPX4PPC. Compress ilock, s2u2.exe, and SQLiteCE with maximum compression.
Files are so much smaller you will notice a faster run.
Make sure to run iLock2 before compressing.

I have not tried compressing Settings (speed is not an issue) or s2u2c (still acts a bit quirky)

Now, my annoying little problem: trying to get slide to view to open on iContact's recents when there is a missed call. I can get it to open to iContact's main screen only. Also, after a few uses of S2u2 the phone starts developing a lot of strange quirks.

A soft-reset, restore the registry to original for s2vexe and everything is fine. Obviously, I'm doing the registry edit wrong. What exactly must I enter under "0File" and its associated "0Parameters:?

Any suggestions would be welcome. :-)

Re: S2U2 v2.00 is Now Available

I am back with v1.62 as I ran out of patience with v2.01.
I was having a few issues which I could not resolve.
The newest issue was the stalling of FDC Task Manager while S2U2 is running. If you closed iLock2 the issue would resolve but once started again, the issue appeared as well as S2U2.exe running in the background according to the Task Manager.
With v1.62, all issues are resolved except for the problem of password lock appearing after soft reset even though it is set at 4 hours but not a big deal.
I wasn't really using any of the new features that v2.01offered anyway.
Also, I want to say that just because I had issues with v2.01, doesn't mean that others will have the same issues.
As a matter of fact, from what I have read, there are many that are happy with the new version.

I finally decided to try a locking program after I could not get my CDMA Touch Pro to NOT wake up on new SMS...

I installed S2U2 and was VERY impressed with how well it functioned, kept itself out of the way (memory wise when phone not sleeping) and all the options/features...

Excellent little app!
