Re: Mobile Shell and TF3d
I own mobile shell 3 and of course have TF3d (running SSK's great VZW ROM).
Resources I notice no difference. Consensus view is the MS is lighter, I notice nothing. I have no problems with either, in terms of stability and function. I expect the occasional hiccup in any windows mobile environment, but they're pretty rare and nothing a soft-reset won't fix. The tricky thing is, each offer something the other doesn't in terms of function, and I haven't found any easy way of going back and forth. Pros of MS3, for me: - between widgets and launcher, I basically never have to leave my home screens. - delete emails without opening them (seems small, is actually darn nice) - facebook>contact thingy, which works reasonably well for me - a contact can be a widget. My 'people' page doesn't work in TF3d, I have 2,500 contacts and it takes way too long to load Pros for TF3d - I like the slider arrangement - The album feature works and remembers your favorite (MS3 doesn't remember) - The weather feature works (for me) - I generally think it's cooler looking. The slickest thing in MS3 is the carousel, which I find no use for. I'm on TF3d today. Might be on MS3 tomorrow. |

Re: Mobile Shell and TF3d
Did you delete the SPB MS3 file from the windows/startup folder? I did that, then I assigned SPB home to my right soft key(instead of SMS). That way when I start my phone, I can switch to MS3 easily.
My only concern is that when I switch to MS3, I am usually running both TF3d and MS3. At first, I would disable the TF3d from the today settings. Now, I just run both of them. I just wonder how much of an extra hit it is taking on the battery. |

Re: Mobile Shell and TF3d
No, I didn't do that, but I will next time I install MS3. I tried the switcher app that's floating around, got nowhere with it. I reckon that TF3d is going to be the battery suck, whether it's on exclusively or on with MS3.
Didn't mention that. I've found MS3 to be less of a battery hog than TF3d. |

Re: Mobile Shell and TF3d
When I had the mogul I had an issue of the Mobile Shell eating up my memory. I don't think that is an issue right now but I have found that I can do using the TF3D what did on the mogul with MS 3.

Re: Mobile Shell and TF3d
Programs tab of TouchFlo just add the 'Spb Home' to your other shortcuts and then in MS3 add a 'Show Today' widget and you can run both all day long and switch back an forth with the click of a button.

Re: Mobile Shell and TF3d
OK so nobody asked about it, but someone is bound to mention it...might as well be me. Check out PointUI and see if you like it...not quite as many customizations, but the are some really useful apps on it that seem quicker than TF3D(what doesn't).
Also, if you're interested in a multi-today type setup, check out TouchFlo Detacher. It can be used with MS3 and TF and .UI together, or however you want. Just my $0.02. |

Re: Mobile Shell and TF3d
When I first purchased my touch, I could not stand touch flo. It is pretty, but it takes way to long to do anything. I love mobile shell. I came from a treo and I was used to getting to contacts and programs very quickly. Mobile shell provides that. It is not perfect though.
tf3d Pros - very pretty nice weather app cons not very responsive getting to a contact takes too many movements ms3 pros very responsive quickly get to most functions shortcuts screens a very useful very customizable(widgets and shortcuts) cons I cannot stand not being able to see my alerts( I have to go to my today screen to dismiss them). carousel is useless just my 2c |
