Re: Palringo killing battery!

Also in the settings menu for Palringo there is a check box for "battery saving" (or something like that)...make sure that it's checked.

And thanks for the heads up with the "tag" issue.

late,
Coz

I should have eloborated earlier as this is exactly what happened. I hate it when others see me as "firstname.lastname@hotmail.com" in their IM clients. So when I found this was the case, I simply went ahead and changed the name and the status, and bam [via Palringo] appeared and then it was impossible for me to remove it.

I've also just tried Nimbuzz, and I don't think it's a good fit to work on MightyROM 4.8 (because of the new TF3D menu system)

you can reinstall Palringo, which will remove the tag. just dont set away message or change your status name again.

I just tested that, on a fresh ROM too, and no go. I think Palringo saves these things server side.

Re: Palringo killing battery!

On Palringo's battery life - I've found it to be superb. If you think Palringo is bad, run Beejive for a few, you'll realize how good Palringo really is.

If you're running a push e-mail solution like SEVEN which keeps your data connection up all of the time anyway, Palringo really doesn't cause that much of an additional drain. It's just the continued polling for messages that causes the increased drain.

Re: Palringo killing battery!

I installed Palringo after having issues with Beejive not signing on. And Palringo decimated my battery life, much worse then Beejive. But I think I found the culprit. I noticed in Communications, the BEAM was suddenly on. I always have it off, but I guess after installation it turned on. So keep an eye out for that.

I personally prefer the Beejive setup (when it works). I don't like how Palringo erases conversations when you switch to another.

Re: Palringo killing battery!

I always turn my beam off, but it shouldn't matter since we dont have a beam on the Touch Pro.

Re: Palringo killing battery!

And Palringo has better battery life than Beejive IMO. Beejives interface was the best, but it doesn't seem to work lately.
