someone with age of empires ppc plz help a noob lol

I've been playing age of empires for ppc, and for the life of me i can't figure out how to destroy my own units.

for instance, it says ive reached population limit, so i want to kill some of my workers. I highlight them, then what?

Delete was the old PC command, so many the same on PPC?

i cant even find where to put in commands lol.

Someone said just lead them into battle they can't win. Guess that's what I'll do.
