Re: Windows Mobile App Store online (*for real*)

Both links work for me. Thanks though.

Although this is still not the "Windows Mobile Marketplace" that has been talked about for some time now. It appears WM 6.1 won't be seeing it.

On April 2nd, a Microsoft Spokeswoman has stated that Windows Mobile Marketplace will be exclusively available for Windows Mobile 6.5 devices. According to the spokesperson, this move is a business decision and there are "a lot of internal discussion around this, so stay tuned." I'm not sure what lead to the axing of Windows Mobile 6.1 from the Marketplace support, maybe it's due to the fact that Windows Mobile 6.5 is right around the corner, who knows.

Re: Windows Mobile App Store online (*for real*)

I'm guessing that the decision to make marketplace 6.5 only is a quality-of-service issue for MS. Since 6.5 is going to have tighter hardware requirements (IIRC), then there's not as much risk for certain apps causing problems on certain devices.

Or it might just be an upgrade incentive. But that seems less likely to me, since I think MS knows they need to try REALLY HARD not to bleed customers while we wait for WM7 to finally give a real update to the platform.
