Re: Best way to get gmail on my phone?
I just use the TF3D part and have it auto check every hour. If you have more time sensitive needs they you will need to look elsewhere.

Re: Best way to get gmail on my phone?
It's not strictly that my needs are time-sensitive, it's that I hate getting a "new" alert for mail I've already read on my desktop. Push IMAP will (I believe), keep the read status in sync and keep everything hunky-dory.

Re: Best way to get gmail on my phone?
You can set g-mail up with IMAP access without Push. Configure your email to check every hour or so, and then if you have already checked that mail on gmail's site, it will show up on your phone as read already, you wont get a new alert.
Go to settings in gmail, forwarding and pop/imap tab, and towards the bottom, check the button to enable IMAP. Configuration instructions for your phone are here: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/...y?answer=78886

Re: Best way to get gmail on my phone?
Yeah, that's how I currently run it. It's not bad, but I'd call it a "B" solution, definitely not A+.
It seems to me like there should be a better way to cobble it together, but I just don't see a way. |

Re: Best way to get gmail on my phone?
Your only other option would be services like e-moze, which you mentioned, and Seven that push mail to your phone as it arrives. In those instances, though, you would always get the new mail alerts on your phone, as it is sent down the second it arrives in your inbox. Battery wise, they don't really effect drain that much, due to the fact that they are idle except when pulling mail, they just ping the servers often enough to keep the connection alive.

I don't think it's actively being developed any more, but I'm very happy with the IMAP Pusher service:
