Bible Program? Anybody know of any?

I found one, but it's a King James Version and not that I have anything against the KJV it's safe to say my IQ isn't on that level.

Does anybody know of a Bible program (online takes too long) with a Amplified or a New Living version? Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, I know DON'T give off a Christian type vibe which is wrong, but ....... it's another post.

Laridian has the best. Some bibles are free but the one you want isn't. However it's well worth the price.

Re: Bible Program? Anybody know of any?

Probably the most popular programs are (in no particular order)

Olivetree
Laridian
esword

All of them should have free versions/translations (although I believe Laridian charges for the bible program)

Don't expect to get the NIV, NASB or ESV for free.

Just curious, why do you say it is wrong to give off a Christian type vibe? Just be who you are. Don't be ashamed of it.

You are right, we should not be ashamed to say that we follow Chirst. But it's funny because at this same time I myself was looking for Bible software to put on the TP. When I had my 755p i used bible reader

Techno1, the KJV I found was Esword.

The KJV is waaaaay over my head. I pray, I try, and I get .... nothing. With Amplified it's like ....yay I understand this!

I actually hate to admit this, but I tried to DL the pay version (50 bucks for AMP) from Giganews. Not found. I guess Bible progs are not high up on hackers list.

Sorry to say, if I had the knowledge I'd crack it and share it.

$15? I'd pay to help support the ministry. Fitty? Um.... no.

:violent2:ESword has the best selection of Bible programs and DL's available. I have used it on my Treo's, Mogul, and now on my TP. And there is nothing to be ashamed about in being a Christian. After all Jesus isn't ashamed of us so what do we have to be ashamed of? Only our actions before coming to Christ. If you need any help with ESword or anyone just wants to talk don't be afraid to pm me. And if anyone wants a good movie to watch you should check out the new movie "FireProof" it is excellent.
You should be able to DL an Amplified Bible version from Esword.

$50???!!! The Amplified Bible can be found easily (look at the major 3 players) from $16-20.
This is ONE program I would not recommend looking for a hack... :)

Have you checked out Olivetrees selection? I believe that one is even more extensive than esword.

www.laridian.com

I use Pocket Bible 4 for Windows Mobile and I have the NIV, The Message, TNIV, and the KJV along with the NIV Bible Study Notes, commentaries and a bunch of free reading plans. I paid for the Pocket Bible 4, the Message, and the NIV everything else was free. Well worth it.

Re: Bible Program? Anybody know of any?

The only problem I have is that most of the Bible software programs for WM aren't touch friend. Laridian is short of touch friend, but still many of the buttons are too small. I wish we could develop a skin for Laridian.

Re: Bible Program? Anybody know of any?

I have Laridian as well, I like the reader, but it isn't really touch friendly. But then, it's barely winmo 5 friendly, so touch friendly too is asking quite a bit. You can go to the navigation page of the settings and change it so that touching the screen in various places does various things, that helps.

Re: Bible Program? Anybody know of any?

I was a looooong time Olive Tree for like 8 years but just recently switched to Laridian. In my opinion, OliveTree has been focusing much of their new development on the iphone and has really neglected WiMo devices. They have the most extensive resources but unfortunatley their Bible Reader program really is a bit archaic.

Laridian's product is nicer and supports gestures for scrolling which really is helpful. Their implementation of landsape is also nicer.

Does esword support gestures?

(one other feature of Laridian that I like is that they have a corresponding desktop reader which allows you to use all your Bible texts/resources also on your PC. No need to buy a PC bible program too.)

Ive checked out all the ones mentioned, its not like there terrible, but man what I would not do for a decent finger friendly bible program. Maybe we would be better off going for a nice pdf reader? I think you can get all major version via pdf for cheap, is there any really great finger friendly document/pdf reader?

Unfortunately you are correct. It is sad, but the iphone bible programs for the most part are superior (ie Olivetree) even though WinMo devices have been out for more than 10 years.

PDF reader probably won't help much since it would be hard to jump to a specific passage.

Laridian's program supports gestures for scrolling which is a good start. Olivetree's program was good back in 2006 but is now really showing it's age.

I find it amusing that publishers charge for digital bibles. The churches around me used to just give out bibles like candy. As you all may know, bibles aren't exactly pamphlets you can just print up for a couple cents.

I would love to have a forgiven theme! I have two awesome shirts that say CRUCIFIED on the front with Jesus on the cross and at the bottom it says Father forgive them for they know not what they do - Luke 23-34. The back of the shirt says No nails held him to the cross. His love for you did! He could have called on the angels to rescue Him, but He stayed there. They beat Him, spit on Him, ripped His beard out and still He for gave them. He has forgiven you.

I use laridian. I found that for those of us who want a touch friendly version, you can change the icons on the bottom to larger versions. I had lost my stylus on my mogul for quite a while, and HAD to do that to use it. It's under view\options\moreoptions\toolbars and click "large buttons"

Just to make you feel better, the Today's New International Version is the BEST version of the Bible available. The good book has been translated into many different languages including English. English is not the same as it was in 1600's when KJV was written. The TNIV was translated from the text that it was written in. We do not have the autographs (the original copies) but we do have some manuscripts (copies of copies) of originals. We are pretty sure, thanks to the Dead Sea Scroll find that we have what was written with 99.9% accuracy. There have been a few changes to the Bible since the KJV because of this find, including a whole chapter of Mark that was apparently added LATER, the reason, the manuscripts of Mark the people found does not have the last chapter of Mark and they are from before the ones that Mark has been translated from. I would suggest looking for this version as there is no reason to get something that is outdated. Many people think KJV is special, but I don't know why. I have had someone say I want what Jesus read, hahaha I don't think so! haha. I had another person say well I don't want a translation of a translation, I said I can assure you that the TNIV or the NIV was not translated from the KJV!! People aren't that lazy!

So if it helps it isn't just you that can't read the KJV and its also unnecessary!!

Hi...would someone have a Spanish version of the bible?...looking for RV60 (reina valera 1960) and the corresponding reader...thanks

Re: Bible Program? Anybody know of any?

I have used them all. I was a long time QuickVerse user, but they drop verse number one of every pslam for some odd reason, in mostg Bible versions I tried.

I keep coming back to OliveTree, despite the lack of updates. I likethat u can change font and background colors to make reading easier. You have more choices than other developers give u. I also like that u can change the menus to work with the Windows Soft Keys, making it easier to use a finger. You can also turn on screen tapping, and customize it tp make navigation easier.
