Well, after installing the contact card cab as well and restarting the phone again now I am able to open my e-mails... SMS bug still present though...

According to some people at XDA, the backup programs that you use to save your contacts store them incorrectly, and are therefore incompatible. I'm testing this theory now.

With the new "Official" release the "Notification" cab now works on install. I have not yet gone through the whole new release to see what more is different.

Really? If HTC has changed the basic way contacts work that is not a good thing, IMO.
