Re: [APP] Shp Finance 2.40 [4/8/09] [VGA/QVGA/Wide]

I've sorta halted on working on my WM projects for a while. I have a lot of real life stuff going on in my life, and it's really hard to get answers from people on here when I have a question about what they're specifically doing when they get the errors they're getting. There's really no incentive for me to work hard on this, so...sorry guys. You may have to wait a while.

Re: [APP] Shp Finance 2.40 [4/8/09] [VGA/QVGA/Wide]

My problem with ALL these finance programs is the same.

Theyre dreadfully ugly , they all require stylus for input.

This one seems alot more streamlined and straight forward then SPB. But I refuse to even give it everyday use because of the tiny visuals.

PPC apps are seriously outdated at this point. TP screen is too small and unresponsive to begin with for this type of App. At this point if its not completely thumb freindly its obsolete.
I dont mean to be harsh or single anyone out (especially someone whos putting his time into Free apps) but Ive been looking for good budget program for weeks Im pretty sure Ive tried all available at this point ((almost 20 now)) and for the most part all function and look the same.
Iphone (blech) has several apps that even though they arent remotely as functional or deep as this or other progs...are just MUCH easier to use becuase of the straight away GUI.

Good programmers need to start coordinationg with good visual guys to make a leap in Apps.

This is actually a very valid point. Honestly, I hate the looks of it too, and I wish it were more finger friendly. I could build something like that, but frankly, I don't have enough time to spare anymore to be even working on these, let alone making them look nice and be finger friendly. Personally, I do not use a stylus with this app, and it's fine for me. I still use it all the time.

If coding apps for WM was my full time job, these apps would be killer, but unfortunately, I code for 8 hours a day at work, then have crap to do at home or out all the time.

Re: [APP] Shp Finance 2.40 [4/8/09] [VGA/QVGA/Wide]

You know, the real underlying problem with this sort of app (finance) is it's complexity; it's not a point and shoot camera then 2 thumb presses to send iphone simplicity.

It's a fully functional way to manage your finances. Would you expect your work PC to let you do everything with 1 or 2 mouse clicks? What about spreadsheets?

As we in the unix/linux world know, the complexity allows you to do great things, while minimalistic/simplistic GUIs limit your options.

I hate to say it, but sometimes it's just how it is.

Now, don't get me wrong, i say "you can never say never and never say always" but unless a truly innovative way of working with finance comes out, this is how it'll be.

I run my custom program through excel, and although I try to make it easier to look at with different colored backgrounds and little boxes and what not, it's still the same in the end: fields to fill in.

While I understand you might want something pretty to look at or touch, you won't find it in financial software, it's just an ugly business.

Re: [APP] Shp Finance 2.40 [4/8/09] [VGA/QVGA/Wide]

Problem

I can install and run app just fine
I click save as after entering something into the ledge or wallet
Then i save the file to my storage card

Then I go to open the file again:

There is no valid data in " Name.Mbf " It mar be from an older unsupported version.

\\ So What is the issue???

I am running wm 6.1 Verizon upgrade with 3.5 framework

This program is awesome, I've used it for 2 days and it already helped me a lot. Can you add a tab where you can put your bank savings info? And add that you your income, so that it adds it up to your disposable money? Thanks again

Hi,

looks like a great program. Only it doesn't support my currency which is the € (euro) Can't you get the currency used from the regional settings?

Thanks,

Hennie.

I haven't fully tested it for other regions, but it is coded that way. What does it do for you?
