I must be having a brainfart. I have my music stored as Storage Card/Music/Artist/Album/****.mp3
How do I add every song in the music folder?

I had to go to Options/media Browser point to Storage Card\Music so I could see all artists then Options/Recursive Search/Select All then back to Options/Play Current Folder

:) Ya know, i was always just satisfied with tcpmp and coreplayer. But i couldnt get them to play a playlist in order, and without manually selecting the next item. Kinda frusterating with an audiobook that has 100+ files. Anyhow, this nitrogen play works great, and like you said, tiny footprint. Lovin' the manilla skin also :) Thanks HB,

Ok, n00b question.

I know it supports m3a and m4a, but will this player allow me to listen to an *.m3a or *.m4a stream from a website?

I'm also giving the "thumbs up" to this player! Open source under the GNU General Public License too! Way to give back to the community....

I can't wait to see what the future holds for this project and what future file formats will be supported. Great job all around! =D>

Not a noob question, and Welcome! to the forums and Congratulations! on your first post.
As of right now, I don't believe it supports streaming. Streaming has been brought up a few times in the xda thread, and Nitrogen does play ogg files, so I don't think it's a far cry to say that we'll see streaming support in future versions. As of right now though, I believe that's the only feature this app is missing. Though someone else may be better suited to answer your question, as I never do any audio streaming myself.

Thanks, GoodGets.

Do you happen to know of an app that supports listening to a stream? I have police and fire/rescue scanners online that I would like to listen to while not at home.

Np, there's quite a few of 'em out there that support streaming, but probably the easiest way would be to use some of the apps that already come on your phone.

Windows Media Player supports streaming. Open it up, then Menu (right soft key), then "Open URL" and put in the url of your stream. Also, I think you can find the stream using your browser (opera, IE, etc) and when you click on it, you can select open from the pop up, and it will automatically use WMP. But, if you know the url, it may just be easier to type it in.

Also, HTC makes an app just for streaming. It even has a super catchy name. Are you ready for it? It's called Streaming Media. I know, I know, HTC really pulled out all the stops on that one. Also, I believe it comes on the stock ROM, and it's included in some of the custom roms. If you don't have it, you can find it easily via a google search. However, I don't really like it when someone just tells someone to google it, especially when they're a new member, so I'll help you out. There's a version posted in this thread, and you can find one here. There's a few builds out there, and I don't know which is the best or newest, so you still might wanna search on your own. Honestly though, you might even have the app already installed and might not even know it.

Hope that helped.

Re: [7/14/09] - Nitrogen v1.1 (definitely my new mp3 player)

Again, thanks for the info.

I tried both ways and they failed to work. Windows Media throws up an error stating that it doesnt support the filetype and StreamingMedia says invalid URL. These are the 2 links I am trying to stream:

http://icecast.scanamerica.us/missouri_stcharles2.m3u

http://icecast.scanamerica.us/missouri_stcharles1.m3u

Odd that the website says streaming links for cellphones and I cant get a WM phone to work on it...haha. I tried both entering the URL direct into WMP and opening the link via the browser. The latter option I tried shows that the file is being downloaded but it will not open a player.

Just wanted to chime in and add that I agree with the OP.
Nitrogen (also using v 1.1) is downright awesome.
Best MP I've used on a WinMo phone, or any phone for that matter.

Simple, intuitive, big buttons, low resource usage, and lots of depth to it as well if you feel like tweaking things.

Re: [7/14/09] - Nitrogen v1.1 (definitely my new mp3 player)

Maybe I'm missing something, but I dont see a way to easily get to a song. in WMP you can just bring up the playlist browser and start typing a name and it does a smart search. TF#D music tab is great with its WMP playlist support, which I dont see in Nitogen, so you would have to rebuild your playlist instead of just using the ones you already have on your desktop. You can flick browse but just like TF3D music tab and WMP it doesnt have letter chooser so you have to scroll the whole freaking list and if youve got more than a few hundred songs it is just a pita. Pocket player is the only one with letter scrolling. Pocket player is prob the best one out there but is overpriced and although it has an amazingly beautiful fullscreen album art player mode, it doesnt support swiping, which is retarded. AC's S2P has incredible potential and is the most beautiful with coverflow and coling of Ipod's music player but it is buggy as hell and AC doesnt do anything to futher develop what is probably his most promising app that he could actually make money off of.....

I also notice that nitogen will not display any of my album art although tf3d and WMP shows all of them...

Basically all of the Winmo players fall short at the moment, which is pretty freakin pitiful considering the platform is 10 years older than Iphone.

Re: [7/14/09] - Nitrogen v1.1 (definitely my new mp3 player)

OP theres an alpha build out:AUG 28 - If you guys want to take a look at the future of Nitrogen (heh), download the cab attached to this post! The features which were already included are: key mapping, auto change skin when screen size changes (must download and install the joint skins also available on the attachment), G-Sensor support (HTCSensorSDK.dll), some SFX and bugfixes!
As you should know, this is an ALPHA PRE-RELEASE, not even an RC! It's meant for developers and testers only! Once again, use at your own risk!

I installed version 1.1 and then the latest alpha everything was good then I installed S2P and now when I open Nitrogen it closes withing 3 seconds. I uninstalled S2P and Nitrogen and did a soft reset and it still does the same thing.

Re: [7/14/09] - Nitrogen v1.1 (definitely my new mp3 player)

Wow, I really, really like this player. I was just about to pull the trigger on buying the semi-bloated Pocket Player, but this combined with BeyondPod for grabbing podcasts does exactly what I want for free! I'm running 1.2 Alpha 4 and thus far it works wonderfully.

Is there a way in the program that I'm missing (or a plugin to supplement the program with) to add this functionality?:
- A "library"-esque browser that would display things via ID3 tags (ala an iPod) rather than browsing the media solely by directory structure?
- Resuming of files where you left off, even if you play something else in the mean time? There's an option for it to resume play of the file you were last playing which is great. If there was a way to remember position in even like the last 3 files played (for podcast-listening purposes) would be really neat!

I did some searching on both of these and didn't find anything. Just thought I'd ask.
