Re: Nitrogen Player v0.3.2 (definitely my new mp3 player)

Thanks man, but I never see that..

I have the same as you: music on my storage card in this location-

/Storage Card/My Documents/My Music

I navigate there using the Options/Media Broswer or hitting the Playlist button in the upper right. When I get to the My Music folder, I can use the Folder Options to:

- Add Subfolders to Playlist
- Add Selection to playlist
- Select all
- Select none
- Invert selection
- Close menu

Thats it.. I can select all, and add subfolders to playlist, but nothing ever shows up in the playlist.. If I go into a folder that has MP3s, I don't see any of them, and never get the options you have..

Let me try a soft reset and see if that fixes it..

Glad you like it. I think this app is starting to catch on over here, which is good. I've said it a couple times before, but it really is the best mp3 player out there without question. Also, the scroll wheels skins are a must.

And hell yes to the g-trigger. I have this mapped as my left to right action. These are my favorite 2 apps out right now.

I have been trying and cannot get this to work. I am looking at post 39 with picture of Playlist Editor screen.
Mine does not look like this. Options are Delete checked items, clear playlist, close menu.
I cannot figure anyway to load to Playlist.

I hate WMP, hoped to like this, love the scroll wheel, but cannot get songs in.

Do I have an older version? Version 0.3.2?

Please help

It's because you are trying add to the playlist from the playlist.
The menu with options are Delete checked items, clear playlist, close menu are available only play list and select options. The way this player works is you've got a "Playlist" and a "Media Browser." You use the Media Browser when you first use this app, or when you add new music, then you never have to use it again. From then on, you'll only use your Playlist. Which will be like the "All Songs" list on an iPod.

To add songs:
Go to the media browser, which can be found after opening nitrogen up and seeing your selected skin under: Options> media browser> and Browser (right softkey) (you may already be in the browser, you'll know if the right softkey says Playlist. this lets you toggle between the two.)

Once in the browser, find the folder(s) with your songs in them, then tapp on one of the songs in the folder and you will get the following menu.

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/2528/screen05.png

To anyone else who reads this, it is far more intuitive that I'm making it sound, just trying to be as thorough as possible.

Hope all this helps.

Thank you darren for offering this. I had a few more screenshots ready just in case nmoreman, or any user for that matter, was still having trouble, but this would be an even better help.

I have thanks each of every one of you. You are right, this is why I love the forum. I had read, re=read, but just couldn't get it to work.](*,)

The above explanations from GoodGets got me going. The problem was adding the folder, then the subfolders, that is where I missed it. I checked each one after adding, and added flawlessly. And I appreciate the offer to help off line from darren, but looks good right now.=D>

I had already loaded the scroll wheel, love the application. I have always had fits with WMP, really hate using it as player. If you move, you lost your little column - :protest: - such a pain unless you are setting still, not in sun, etc.

This downloaded all songs together, in order, just as good as a play list, which now that I know how to do, will save so much time.

Thanks again guys, great information and help. I am sure it will help others too, this easy to use directions is better than the xda thread.

Re: Nitrogen Player v0.3.2 (definitely my new mp3 player)

Two more silly questions for you. Player is working great, really like it but see two quirks.

First, the Play button is usually the right arrow, the two upward lines are pause. On mine it is reversed - arrow pauses, Lines play. Is this right? I can live with it up curious.

Second, when I copied folders from Browser/Music folders, all artists are listed. When I hit Browser, it shows artists. When I use Scroll Wheel skin (love it), all artists are unknown. Since I know the names of the songs, are some of the within the group, I can figure out who it is, but just wondered.

Did I mess up loading or is this normal? Don't know if it is worth the effort to delete everything and start over, but . .

I don't know if they are actually reversed, or you aren't thinking of it right. Like WHILE a song is playing, the Pause button should be shown. Since the song is already playing, the play button should not be shown. Vice versa if the song is Paused, then the play button should be apparent cause that's the next logical action (to PLAY the song you've paused). I mean this is the way it works in all players, even something like hulu.

However, if you mean they are actually showing up oppositely of what I just described, then there may be something wrong with the skin. Try another. I use manilalike. Or, you might want to try reinstalling.

I show both the name of the song and the artist as well. Maybe you have not labeled your songs correctly. I don't think this uses id3 tags in this version, but the actual properties of the file. Anyways, it is working correctly for me, sorry to hear that. Maybe try a different skin as I mentioned above.

Re: Nitrogen Player v0.3.2 (definitely my new mp3 player)

GoodGets, you are so right. In my mind, and I swear I did, I opened Media Player after you wrote this - they are both the same. I must have had a blond moment after fighting with WMP all weekend to download music - using Limewire (on my kid's computer), transfer to mine, upload to phone, then finangle with these players.

I am correct, the artist doesn't show for some reason. It is on WMP, it went onto Diamond Media Player correctly, loaded from artist files into Nitrogen. Changed skins, same, but that is okay - I have a player that works!!! So buttons are right, scroll wheel is great, can find songs easily, I'm happy.

This was the last step in setting phone up correctly to really like it, I spend a lot of time outside in summer, don't want phone and Ipod, so this will work great.

Again, thanks for the help, I feel I was a little dense, but explanations really helped.

Re: Nitrogen Player v0.3.2 (definitely my new mp3 player)

Hi guys, I'm back with one more pain in the butt question.

Nitrogen is working great, love it, but lost the Music Tab on stock Diamond. It now just says searching. All buttons on tab show nothing, no albums, songs, etc. However, search of Internal Storage/Music has everything.
All were copied to Nitrogen, it shows and plays. Checking My Mobile Device thru Active Sync shows everything.

MusicTab or WM Tab will not pull up anything. I tried to copy new download today from My Music in Device via Nitrogen Browser. It saw it but wound't copy, so I guess I need to fix.

Are there any floating cabs or fixes for this? Don't want to hard reset](*,) so thought I would ask before I called Advanced Tech Support and try. I trust you guys more!!

I'm sorry, that's the one feature I don't use. (I use wired noise cancelling headphones and when I plug my phone into my car I do so using a jack.)

I would definitely test it for you though if had some bluetooth headphones. I've been meaning to buy some, but I probably won't get around to it or find the best deal by the time you need an answer.

I did search for avrcp in the xda nitrogen thread and got no results (besides that post I linked to in the op). I also looked through wolfman's avrcp agent thread and didn't see nitrogen mentioned. However, I didn't want to leave you with just that, so I was able to find this. It was a bug report of the same issue on the google code's homepage of this app. They too had a tp and a stock rom; however, that may have actually been you that posted that, lol. Hopefully though this issue will get resolved. It's probably the only thing this app's lacking.

Also, the nicknames made me laugh, bennyMMVIII.

(that was 2008 in roman numerals, by the way)

Re: [6/7/09] - Nitrogen v1.0.0 (definitely my new mp3 player)

After playing with this for a couple days, here's a quick review. Shuffle does work now. You can even set previous/next button to change song, which will also shuffle if you have it enabled. I wasn't able to get the repeat song to work; however, I never have and probably never will use that feature, so not a deal breaker for me, I'm just reporting in.

Finally, some of you may have noticed that the buttons on the options menu have gotten smaller. It's just part of the default skin and not a bug with the app. The menus can be made larger again by using one of the skins I linked to in post #8. I still use ManilaLike, gotta love that scroll wheel.

Also, the skins for the previous version(.0.3.2) still work on this newer version. Although I linked to the official skin thread in the first post and #8 as well, here it is again just for your convenience.

I've used s2p in the past, way too clunky for me. Give nitrogen a try. I was really blown away when first started using it quite a few months back. One thing that's not been brought up enough here is that Nitrogen is super light on the ram usage and great for lower ram devices. I think you'll enjoy it, if not you can always downgrade back to s2p (had to get in one last jab).

Re: [6/7/09] - Nitrogen v1.0.0 (definitely my new mp3 player)

I just tried Nitrogen v1.0, and it definitely seems faster and less resource hungry than my current player, CorePlayer. However, AVRCP definitely doesn't work as it doesn't respond to any button clicks from my headphone. The interface on Nitrogen is definitely much nicer than CorePlayer, but AVRCP support is a must for me, unfortunately.

First of all: Congrats on your first post!!!!

Yeah, Nitrogen is by far the best looking and least resource hungry of any player out there.

As far as the AVRCP support, did you try the work around listed at the bottom of the first post?

'cause I've never noticed any battery drain due to this app.

Yes I did.. Couldn't get it to run correctly either.. Clicking on the "Play" button on my BT headphones would cause Nitrogen to start, but it wouldn't start playing.. Forward and Backwards button didn't work either..

Yeah ManilaLike is still my favorite. Although there are quite few more nice ones over in the skins thread, even ones that utilize the scroll wheel. I linked to a couple in post #8 of this thread, but there have even been a few more since then. Also, in case anyone missed it, version .3 skins still work.
