I use Novi Remote and am able to 'drive' all my equipment from about 20 feet away with no problems whatsoever.

Mine also works from 20 feet away. You might want to reinstall it to see if you could get better range.

With my Dell Axim x51v - no problems and I loved how easy it was to train it. I used the provided profiles for the keyboard layouts and trained it for all my devices myself rather than trying to find the profile for my specific equipment model.
