Software to merge text message files?

I've had my TP for a few months now and so far i love it. I'm in the process of selling my old mogul but i'd like to merge my text messages from the mogul into the TP so that i have them all in once place. Is there software that will do this? I have current texts on my TP so it's not like i can just do a straight backup/restore on texts.

Any ideas?

Re: Software to merge text message files?

You could email them to your TP or just forward them from your Mogul to your TP if you still have a data connection on your Mogul.

late,
Coz

Re: Software to merge text message files?

if you use PIM Backup you can still backup your Mogul texts and restore to your TP, just make sure you choose not to delete the current database and "add only new messages." The thing about this is that it can take a really long time for it to restore since PIM has to check against the current database. I've done it before however so its definitely possible. Just backup your texts again once the database has been merged so you don't have to deal with the excruciatingly slow restore process again.

Re: Software to merge text message files?

Hey guys,

I just used PIMbackup and i remembered why i didnt like it in the past. It restores your threaded WM6.1 texts out of order. Like when i go back and review my text messages, it shows all of their texts in a block and then all of mine. It's no longer threaded.

Is there a way to fix this?

In fact, i'd love to have a tool which allows me to view the text message db on my main PC and modify messages/sort/rearrange them.

So far texts have been a huge black box.

If you give it some time it'll revert back to threaded conversation mode. The phone has to sort through the texts to order them correctly. To 100% ensure that the texts will thread properly you can disable threaded texts in the settings tab, soft reset, and then restore your texts in normal mode. Once you have all the texts restored, reenable threaded texts, give it a couple minutes and it'll start sorting through the texts by itself. I have like 3,000 texts dating back to like 2 years ago and it took about 10 minutes for the phone to go through them.

Re: Software to merge text message files?

Uh, i think i only have about 1700 and it's been 24 hours...and they're still all jacked up. I even have a bunch of my sent texts that are missing. What gives?

I remember this happening last time, too. Did I just screw myself with PIMBackup?

Re: Software to merge text message files?

How do you view/edit the text db from your desktop? Is there a client for this?

did you try disabling threaded texts before you restored everything? Delete your database and restore again after you disabled threaded. Make sure you have the texts that you had on your phone originally backed up as well.

WM just sorted the texts funky, but the timestamps of your texts are still intact, which means if you do it the right way, it'll sort out correctly again. As I said, same thing happened to me, but after I did that it was back in threaded mode with correct sent/received conversations.
