NOthing to install. Go to the activesync icon under programs and set it up from there using your gmail username and password and m.google.com.

It's an excutable. Just connect your phone via active sync and run the .EXE file.

Re: Official Google Sync

Huh? There's no executable.

People here are some easy to follow instructions:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile...36&topic=14299

1. Open up Active Sync (Start > Programs > Active Sync
2. From Active Sync Window Select Configure Server... (menu > configure server)
3. Enter m.google.com as the email address
4. Make sure This server requires en encrypted (SSL) connection is checked
5. Click Next
6. Enter your full gmail email address as your username (e.g. YourPatheticAttemptAtBeingWitty@gmail.com)
7. Enter your gmail password (make sure to pay attention and capitalize anything that needs to be)
8. Since you entered the @gmail.com in your username the domain field cannot be filled so leave it blank.
9. Click Next
10. Make sure to CHECK ONLY Contacts and Calendar (Do not check email or tasks...you will continue to receive your email via IMAP or POP3)
11. Click Finish
12. Pat yourself on the back

Re: Official Google Sync

This is terrific. I set it up for my calendar and it's been working flawlessly. As mentioned before there's nothing to install, you just configure Exchange Activesync for calendar and/or contacts. It's too bad there's no mail but hopefully that will follow. For now I'm using an IMAP pusher service that works in conjunction with poutlook so I have push GMail e-mail as well as the calendar. It's not a bad solution for now but I'd love to have mail through EAS as well as the calendar.

Re: Google Sync

My Google Calendar setup has multiple calendars (me, wife, each kid) I can only sync my main calendar with google sync. With nuevasync, at least I can add the calendars of my family members.

If I am missing something, please advise. Otherwise, until google sync gets multi-calendar support, I'll stay with nuevasync.

I currently have work sync'd through active sync. Is there anyway to have multiple active sync accounts? (Yes, I know I can access gmail through my current IMAP setup).

I was just curious if anyone has tried that.

Unfortunately Windows Mobile only allows one EAS account to be configured.

Same here... I will stick to nuevasync till Google add those features, plus I decided to give Google sync a spin and screw up all my phone numbers. back to nuevasync....

I had this too, when u set this up, it puts a welcome bs email thing in the "outlook" folder, the one i think no one uses lol, just go in the delete it and the phantom notification will be gone.

Do you find Nuevasync to be reliable?

Can you sync multiple calendars?

I'm guessing that if I already have ActiveSync configured for my work webmail server then I'm going to have to pick one or the other. AS will accept only one server to be configured in this fashion, true?

You can sync multiple calendars using the instructions here: http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/200...90420883781518

I just looked there and it's nothing I haven't tried. Even when I changed the useragent to the iPhone my Touch Pro didn't get the two additional calendars.

Re: Google Sync

It's a shame that Google sync does not support categories. I have categories defined for me contacts, such as "personal" or "business". Some contacts have multiple category memberships. I created a similar "group" structure within Google contacts but no joy. Does anyone know any different?

Thanks.

I've got my tp synced with google and I love it. I was so sick and tired of outlook duping my contacts and appointments, changing dates +/- a day, and my personal favorite, switching birthdays and anniversaries. Hopefully I won't have to scroll through my calander any more checking if the dates are correct. If I never use outlook at home again, it'll be too soon.

do i have to keep activesync running on my tp in order for it to sync, or will it run itself when it is scheduled to sync?

Geez I agree. I cannot believe how many times Outlook has changed all my birthdays and anniversaries. It changes them all to January. Last month was hell - I got reminders about non-existent birthdays and anniversaries about every other day.

Re: Google Sync

For some reason Google sync can't sync the day of a full day even properly.

If I enter a full day event in Google Calendar -> it appears as a full day event on my phone, but a day earlier.

If I enter a scheduled time (ex: 2pm) event in GC -> it appears as a scheduled time event on the correct day on my phone.

If I enter a full day event on my phone -> it appears properly as a full day event on the right day on google calendar.

If I enter a scheduled time event on my phone -> it appears properly as a scheduled time event on the right day in GC.

So the error is whenever I enter a full day event in GC, it ends up going back one day on my phone.

I set my timezone to -5 Eastern in both GC and on my phone... and it works in all ways except one... whats going on?

You're right Kash76. After changing the setting I still only get events from my main calendar. Apparently, multiple calendars is only working with an iPhone at this point.

I'm having the same problem. All-day events created in Google Calendar seem to show up in Pocket Outlook one day earlier.

Google sync issues?

Has anyone got the google sync to work? I currently use hotmail for push mail and contacts. I have deleted the acct and tried it without it. It keepes giving me 1 contact or i get to 100 out of 288 and then it keeps syncing. If you have steps that would greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Google sync issues?

I couldn't get it to work right. It gave me an "Attention Required" error and quit each time. Then it messed up my outlook syncing to. I had to get rid of it and establish a new partnership with my pc to get things right again.

Tinkturtle 02-11-2009 10:46 AM

Re: Google sync issues?

I was getting attention required at first also, gave it a rest, came back couple hours later and I've had no problems since. It's backed up all my contacts and dates to the google calander.

soggystockings 02-11-2009 11:00 AM

Re: Google sync issues?

can you post your steps starting from the start please? I would assume i would have to delete my hotmail acct until after the google sync and then just sync mail only.

I have this problem too, but it's not due to Windows Mobile or EAS. Google has had a sync application for Windows that syncs Google Calendar to Outlook on a desktop for a while now and that would do the same thing. Until I find a fix I just schedule my all-day appointments for 1am - 11pm and it shows as the correct day.

I thought then that my initiating changes from the phone I'd be safe but this things seems MESSED UP (as the kids say). Deleted event mysteriously come back from the dead. Events I changed from all day to scheduled return to all day and wrong day.

I can't find a method yet that works consistently to sync calendar items. How can this be released in this shape? (and don't say it's in Beta as all Google software is in Beta status forever it seems).

I used to use Google Calendar sync for Outlook and don't recall fighting with it like this. I'll try your 11-1am method though.

I haven't been able to get this to work yet. I get this:
Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server Administrator

any ideas?

For those of you who might be interested...

There was an app called Fonebook that would sync your outlook contacts with your facebook friends and put their current facebook pic with their contact info and maybe some other things.

Well check out this post on this blog http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/10/...-facebook.html, where this guy made an app that will do the same thing for your google contacts and facebook.
