New Phone Transfer

My nav key on my 6800 went out so I called Alltel and they're sending me a new one (phone, not nav key). I don't have much on my phone but don't want to go through the process of "re-building". Can I just copy all my files over and then it will be all good?

IE my WeatherPanel app and my GPS activated Google Maps app.

Or do I have to run through the process's again. Sorry for such a rook question.

Thanks

Re: New Phone Transfer

You would need to install a program that allows you to create a backup file to your sd card, like SKTools, Sprite, SPB Backup etc. Then you would install the same program on the new phone and restore the file from the sd card.

Re: New Phone Transfer

I personally use Sprite, but any of the three would be good. I've seen all three being used by many people on this site. I don't think you can really go wrong.

Re: New Phone Transfer

+1 SPB,,,,and really a backup program is something you should have anyway. If you decide to get into ROM flashing or need to hard reset for some reason, it makes restoring your device a breeze. Also, look @ DashWire, for backing up pix, voicemail, SMS, IE bookmarks, etc. www.dashwire.com

Re: New Phone Transfer

Agreed. Having something like Dashwire is also a great idea. You can never be too careful when backing up is concerned. Keeping backups in multiple places can save you a lot of grief down the road. I've lost my information to corrupt storage cards before and I was at least able to get my contacts and such from Dashwire.

You left out SPB Clone......LOL

Although its roughtly the same as SPB Backup. I just had to say it though.....

But overall, I agree with the info thats been given out. Keep in mind the PPC and how it works it very close to how a PC works.
