How are you sending the message, and when you send the message do you get the windows loading circle in the middle of your screen for a few seconds?

Make sure these are your settings and try sending the code by aim.

-Main view
Make sure in settings "enable tracking" is checked

Also check "sms" and "reply to sender"

-Settings View
Make sure background mode is checked

Now send an aim to your phone (if you use aim) with the sms code as the text (default is getgpspos)

You will have to accept the message by replying to the aim the first time but after that it should send the message in the background fine.

So does this have to be running in the background all the time to work?

Hey not sure if you found your answer or not, but i'm wondering the same thing. To my knowledge it looks like it starts up in the background after activated by the sms/email code I'll check my processes on my phone after I. I also added the user manual below.

After installing the Smartphone Tracker:

In the "
Main View":

1. Make sure the "Enable Tracking" is check.

2. Define your "SMS Code". When an SMS containing the code is received, SmartphoneTracker wakes up and send the GPS coordinates.

3. Check the "Email" checkbox to receive GPS Coordinates by email. Choose the email account and fill the "Address". The email with the coordinates will be sent to this email address using the chosen email account.

4. Check the "SMS" checkbox to receive GPS Coordinates by SMS. The SMS will be send to phone "Number". A notification of SIM Card change will be also send to this phone number.

5. Press "Menu -> Save Changes".

At this point Smartphone Tracker is set and ready.
You can Exit it.

When your phone will receive a SMS with the defined "SMS Code", Smartphone Tracker will automatically wakeup and send email or/and SMS with the GPS coordinates.

3. "Force immediate send/receive" - Send the GPS coordinate Email immediately instead of letting the predefine email account to send it. If not check email Email response may not be immediate.
4. "Background Mode" - In this mode the SmartphoneTracker is hidden when operates remotely by SMS.
5. "Notify SIM replaced" - when checked Smartphone Tracker will notify by SMS when a SIM card is replaced. Make sure to define the SMS number in the "Main" tab

Yea, once you set it to run in "background mode" or whatever it starts up when it receives a text. I did a soft reset and then sent a test text to it and it was promptly returned with the location. It also doesn't appear to be a battery drain at all - and on a Touch Pro that's a pretty important thing! :disgust:

Installed this on my TP2 running MightyRom and the program can't Initiate the GPS. Phone shows Init GPS (0/0).... I checked to make sure my location was on and the GPS seems to be working because google maps finds my location. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Does this still not work in 6.5 or 6.5.x? I remember someone saying that 6.5 doesn't allow text intercepts.

Re: Smartphone Tracker

This works great on my TP2 with WM6.5 (stock Verizon MR2). The only problem is it eats through the battery very quickly in background mode. With OC'ing, I have been able to get up to three days on a full charge. With this software installed, I can't get through one day (just like the bad old days before OC'ing).

I'm using the latest version from the developers website. It adds the ability to take a photo and send it with the email containing the Google Maps location.

Anyone have a fix for this or a suggestion on settings? Is the drain because the program is constantly accessing the GPS? Is GPS normally not activated unless a specific application requires it?

Bottom Line:

Like the app and it's functionality
Not very useful if the device dies from a drained battery before it can be tracked!
