Re: Best way to watch tv

hd pro has a coax tuner built in but you need to have a coax jack hooked up to it. Basically without getting into all the details, if you have dish you cant watch one channel on sling and one on your tv because dish requires you to have a box to get channels. The tv tuner can run on a cable coax jack without a box giving you basic cable as well as using the component jacks to run your cable box.

As for orb, I literally just uninstalled it on my pc because I got tired of the constant buffering. Im using a 3 mb upload line and a full signal on my phone and it buffers like crazy. Sling never pauses during playback for me.

Re: Best way to watch tv

if your interested.. pm me and i will give you my pass and login for orb, which i belive is the best and cheapest way to view tv or your videos on your pc, as far as there file management application, unless you just want to view your word docs while your out and about, its fairly worthless

although my tuner setup doesnt allow for all of my channels you still get the basics

and with the ability to have a sneak peek at orb, without having to buy the tuner card first, im sure you'll head right out and grab 1

Thanks. I'll stick with my Slingbox....
I can live without landscape and any remote connection compare to local is gonna be crap. You can keep you low rez sling box.

The nice thing about the sling is that it is more expensive and does less. Who wouldn't like that? Included with every sling is lower resolution output, no media center support, extra cost for mobile player and no multiple local streams. Yup, sounds like you got a real winner. Did you hear about the new sling announced at this years ces? Your going to be able to control your record player and tape deck all at the same time. Your gonna need a 14.4 modem and a dedicated phone line but hopefully they announce an ethernet adapter in the near future.

Ahh but it does control media center. Your can control your pc direct or you can control an xbox 360 and go to the media center blade. I run it thru my XBox. Also is a good way to stream netflix movies.

As for multiple local streams...Can someone explain to me the point of this? Why in the world would you want to stream the EXACT same show on 5 pc's / phones in the SAME house? Wouldnt it kinda make sense that if 5 of you are gonna watch the same show you may wanna try sitting in the same room and watching an actual tv?

BTW, local and remote viewing on sling has excellent picture quality, especially with a 3 mb upload

Almost forgot, when you buy a sling, if you call customer service they'll give you the mobile player free for being a new customer.

That's true (as I said in a previous post) What really is nice about a SlingBox however (that absolutely CANNOT be said about the POS HAVA) is that it will still be working a year from now.

Come back & post this crap when you're on your 3rd HAVA & trying to get a refund........
