from what i've read over in Da_G's thread on xda it's nice to flash to for a few hours, but people for the most part have been going back to 23004.

haven't had much of a chance to play around w/it yet, just DLed it today so i can't speak from experience

Thats what I did - it was cool to see where things are going, but just not very useable at this time.

At first I wasn't going to check it out, but then I said, "What the hell". I'm going to leave it on for at least a couple of days to see if I spot anything else cool. It seems stable (well, no more UNSTABLE than 230xx), but just a little ugly looking at times.

Could we get some screenshots of the new features Microsoft is experimenting with in 21925?

Here's a few. Notice the new buttons AND tabs on the first one. Also notice how ugly everything is on four. Oh yeah, and want to set the vibrate options under sounds when you get a text...FORGET IT!! It's off the screen and you can't get to it.

I also rarred them up so you can see full res if you want.

How's the memory usage? 23004 leaves the Herald with about 22mb free at boot. This quickly gets eaten away by the gwes service. If RAM consumption is any better, I'm going to try to piece together parts of both and see what I get...

I like the way the tabs are finger friendly, ofcourse they got a long way to go, but its a good step forward.

Also I noticed the input and buttons settings option missing!

So are all of the 219xx versions starting to change the gui (like 21925)? Because when I build 21921 and look at the calendar in day view, it is for finger use, not small like it used to be.

thanks again.

The 219xx (MD1) tree is basically used for testing UI design features. The actual core OS is OLDER than the 230xx tree, but GUI changes are newer. After the GUI changes are stabilized/refined they are then ported over to the 230xx (COM3) tree. It's a feature testing build only. So some changes you see may come and go and never make it to the main 230xx development tree.

It seems so, the recent development in this tree are pointing towards it. And this is backed up by the rumors of 6.5 supporting capacitive screens, so all this seems to be synchronized. :)

will the capacitive screens do away with the use of the stylus? from what i heard thats the reason why MS didnt get into capacitive screens in the past. that will suck i like to write notes on my phone from time to time. would be nice to have both capacitive and stylus

krazy_about_technology 07-16-2009 03:21 PM

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

Ya, capacitive screens dont operate with stylus. Although there are stylus available for capacitive screens, none of them are comfortable to use. They are very thick with thick point of contact, which is a requirement of capacitive screens. Its not that much of fun to use.

But what i think is, Windows Mobile will be able to support both types of screens. What i hope is that they still keep resistive screens for small displays (QVGA and the likes) and put capacitive screens on devices with bigger displays like WVGA. That will retain the usability of WinMo :)

PPCKitchen files for 21925. I thought MAYBE some PPCK users would like to easily check out the UI changes. Some aren't pretty, but maybe interesting enough (I think the tabs have some potential). Enterprise, IPSECVPN and LiveSearch are optional under system. AdobeFlash and browsingie have been recmodded.

Herman XIP is tested, all others aren't. Again, just let us know if there are any issues with any xip's or files.

Da_G has this posted on his thread at XDA. It's the 0409 and DPI for ALL resolutions.

http://rapidshare.com/files/25596943...L-DPI-0409.rar

FYI, those files I posted are designed for PPCKitchen and may not work well in another. Also, they do not have the WindowsLive and Office programs from the SYS.

QVGA, Opal version works allright for me. Its got more to do with the registry settings of your Directshow setup. Try using all the Diretshow components from a single phone, preferably a single ROM. These include the Direcshow package, the mHubVO packager etc. I was not able to get youtube to play untill i did so, it was long time back.

You need to edit your devicebase and create a new builbase file. You also need to add the XIP to your Device_Core.rar file. If you look at the ones that are supplied, you can see how they are constructed.

See this post for more information ->http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...postcount=5573
