I use ytpocket.com. Just follow the directions on that website, and enable GDI under Display in TCMP player, and you're good to go.

If you want absolutely perfect killer youtube playback install Kinoma.

Kinoma is not a free app (& has some annoying characteristics) but if YT videos are your thing it is worth every penny.......

Along with the full Kinoma Play (reasonably-priced, or pay nothing if you use TrialPay), you can also get Kinoma FreePlay for free.

Kinoma FreePlay has the same great YouTube support that's built into Kinoma Play, so (in my biased opinion) there's no reason to settle for anything less.

Re: YouTube Streaming Mobile: A "How To" WM5/M6/SP

Hi, does this replace tcmp and flash video bundle? i have all three on my phone but when i go to mobile you tube it opens thru tcmp instead of the streaming video. also, does streaming video open all different file associations such as mpeg, jpeg, xts, etc, or is that what i would need tcmp for? thanks. also, i can't unzip step 1. when i tap my screen, nothing happens.

It's to my understanding newer WM6 devices can do m.youtube.com streaming natively.

On the Treo 700 and some other devices, this is not the case due to lack of RTSP codec support (not even TCMP or CORE will save you!).

Thanks to XDA, HowardForums and duken2389 at TC, this is how it is done. :thumbleft:

Download this file  LINK

Inside are 3 more files.

- Step #1.zip: unzip to your device and copy to \Windows
- Step#2- Streaming_210.cab: Install to Main mem on device

Soft-reset

- Step #3-HTC_Streaming_Media.cab: Install to Main mem

Now, when you go to m.youtube.com and click the "view now" link, it should launch this program and stream the content.

It's "OK" quality, no iPhone
------------------------------------------------------------------------
WM6/Mogul Users Directions (thanks Stroths!)

1. Install cab from Step 3.
2. Soft Reset as instructed by the software
3. Enjoy

TIP: Stop the player and exit out of it before changing the screen orientation on the 6800. Otherwise, it makes it hang for about 5 seconds.

I discovered this weekend I can watch youtube videos in Windows Media Player... I have a Touch with WM 6.1, I access the internet using Internet Explorer. At youtube when I tap on a video it automatically opens in Windows Media player. No problems, no extra software necessary. Try it!

Re: YouTube Streaming Mobile: A "How To" WM5/M6/SP

This fix does work quite well in my XV6800.

The quality of the youtube playback is not as good as KinomaPlay (which is top dog in this catagory) or Skyfire, but it does work.

Just wanted confirm that this works with the HTC Mogul with upgraded ROM to WM 6.1. Just download the zip file from first post, unzip locally, copy the "step #3" file to phone and install from there. It will do a reboot at end of install. If it doesn't, do a soft reset.

I wasn't sure if you meant Kinoma Play/FreePlay, but yes -- one of our lead engineers uses an ACE/BlackJack as his primary phone.

It works, but that's just ordinary (and very low-quality) 3GPP video playback.

With Kinoma Play, you'll get PC-quality YouTube playback with a reasonably-good 3G connection. (The same applies to Kinoma FreePlay, which supports all YouTube features except upload.)

Plus, Kinoma Play lets you actually log into your YouTube account so you can view your Videos, Favorites and Subscriptions, rate and comment on videos, share videos with friends, upload new videos, etc.
