Incoming caller's carrier ID?

Is there a software that will identify the incoming caller's carrier (Sprint, Nextel, Verizon etc.)? This will help because you will know if the call will count against your minutes. Of course that would not matter if you have the free incoming plan (which I don't). Thanks.

There is not one out there right now, however check out Nue Minutes, it will track your usage from minutes to sms to nights and weekends. Very useful app if you are watching the meter so to speak...

Re: Incoming caller's carrier ID?

I havent find any software of doing that, i was searching for the samething, i found something that you might want to try it is not that hard, of course i have an unlimited plan now but use to work for me, only thing is if you are not sure who is calling you have to ignore the call, type http://411.com/ in your internet browser, that will take you directly to a the 411 mobile menu, click on "reverse phone", copy and paste the incoming number in the "phone number" field, click on search and you will get the carrier name and other info, hope that helps.

Sounds neat, but I keep getting a message saying input is not valid when I try to search for a number.

Are you using the 10 digit format? You have to enter the number without spaces...just 5554443322

Yeah, at first I didn't put the area code because it said not to. I tried it both ways and get the same result. No biggie, I'll try later. Thanks.

Re: Incoming caller's carrier ID?

Try www.fonefinder.net. You enter the area code and prefix. The return will tell you if the number is a hardline or cell, who the carrier is, and in which city the switch is located. However, it won't tell you if a number has been ported. For example, when I check my Treo's #, it shows up as "Sprint-Spectrum" (who around here remembers when that was Sprint's name?) My number belongs to VZW.
