How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
Hey all,
Ok, I figured it out. I love this app because it serves the same purpose (and more) of the 'official' sprint mms app, but won't give you the low memory error... Download Arcsoft MMS here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...4&d=1228794338 and apply this change: Use your regedit program and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI Click to open EnableServerEdit and change the key from 0 to 1. Soft reset (if you need). Go to your pocket outlook mail box. It should show you that you are have an mms folder. Select menu, then select MMS Configuration. Select the Severs tab and Change http://mms.sprintpcs.com/servlets/mms to http://63.215.195.152/servlets/mms And BINGO! It works perfectly! Works on my Sprint Mogul WM 6.1 Hope this helps. |

Does this work on the Diamond? Does it just become the system default after installing?

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
also..my factory sprintmail intercepts the incoming vid/pic mail. how do i change that?

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
I was able to send a 32g video just fine - bekow are the specs.
Also, if you have mm sinstalled in the ROm from the factory, then you need to uninstall/disable that somehow to stop default intercept. Also, Arcsoft will put itself in pocket outlook, and allow you to select it whenever you hit SEND for media.

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
as far as i know you dont want to uninstall sprint's picmail. the arcsoft app does not properly render the images because of Sprint's non-standard picmail system (not true MMS). If you uninstall Sprint's acrsoft will get the message but when you open the message theres no way to see the picture (due to sprint's picmail system again and the way it wokrs)
also on a stock ROM theres no way to uninstall it, its in the ROM itself. Only way would be to try to stop it intercepting which i doubt can be done easily |

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
either way dont you need sprint's app or smms to receive?
my understanding is picturemail wont come through in arcsoft's inbox, sprint doesnt use traditional MMS. I tried it on my diamond with a custom ROM (so no sprint app) and it came into acrsofts inbox but was all text and no picture. |

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
again i dont think its possible to receive a picmail through arcsoft. the message says its in the inbox but there is no picture in the message just some text when you click the message.
i dont know how some of you claim its working. sprint's picturemail system isnt capable of true MMS to receive through the arcsoft program. |

so close but so far

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
Works great on my Mogul. I'm running DCD's 3.2.5 ROM and I havent had any problems so far. I'm sure glad this is working. That Sprint memory error made the official Sprint program useless.

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
its sprint's fault, tehy dont use traditional MMS.
Essentially this is how i understand it works: 1. person sends pic 2. pic goes to your picmail account on a server 3. sprint's picmail app or sMMS log into your picmail box on the server and get the pic 4. pic is displayed Traditional MMS on other carriers: 1. pic is sent 2. received on phone, no picmail account in between. there is NO way to receive a pic in your arcsoft inbox, the message will say its there but there will be some text and message details. Arcsoft cannot log into your picmail account on the server to get the image. its simply not possible no matter how much a person or 2 claims theirs works, they obviously arent understanding that the pic is not in their arcsoft inbox, maybe just the message saying its there and some text but no image. Its simply against how Sprint's system is set up vs traditional MMS systems other carriers use for picturemail. You MUST have sprint's app or sMMS installed to receive the pic directly to the phone (not an sms link) |
Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
Not true. I uninstalled Sprint picture mail , and arcsoft handled EVERYTHING fine. JD's rom the sprint program is uninstallable.

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
I just tested it. Sent and received picture mail. Incoming message popped up in my text message box with the link to retrieve the pic. Opened fine. Good times.

try logging into your picmail account and send yourself a pic from there and tell me if it opens. Thats how i tested it and no pic image comes through despite there being a new message in the inbox. |

I confirm Arcsoft wont receive the pic in the Arcsoft MMS inbox. All of my incoming picture mails come in as a text with the link to open it. Im not worried about this aspect so much as beig able to send a picture mail with Arcsoft. That damn POS Sprint program memory error was driving me bananas! I have since removed the Sprint MMS. On a side note; Ive tried sMMS but just really liked Arcsoft from back when it used to work. |

I would love to test that for you but...... I just hard reset to my last backup. Because that empty account was bugging me. I'm OCD like that. Also the one issue about Arcsoft that I absolutely hated when I used it on my vogue , is that every now and then it makes your messaging buttons on your homescreen not work until a soft reset. For example the envelope buttons and the "+compose" in T3D stop working and on the normal today screen after you compose a mms or get one. I don't think anyone tried resolving this issue because it stopped working. Now this is back in full effect and it sucks. Mess around you'll notice it soon enough.. |
Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
ok well thats what i was saying without sMMS or the Sprint app theres no way to receive pics. If you have a Diamond or Pro on your account they arent coming through as texts even because its likely they know you have the Sprint app.
Thats how im wondering how people with Diamond/Pros are receving picmail supposedly in the arcsoft inbox when arcsoft cant capture an image off Sprint's servers |
Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
I think I may just reinstall it for the screen shot. My buddy on VZ sent me a pic and it went into the MMS folder. Also I sent a pic to photobucket, and the conformation email came to the mms folder also and opened in arcsoft.

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
well then youre the only one who has the magic phone who can.
its not possible how sprint's servers are set up because sprint doesnt use MMS for images it uses a proprietary system. And Im sure the confirmation came to the inbox because its text, and as i said its the IMAGE which isnt showing. Open the actual message, there is NO image in there, thus this is not picturemail coming through. i dont know if you are not reading the words of my posts or what because i said it shows a new message with some text but no image, and someone else just confirmed the same. But im not going to sit here and argue with you for the sake or arguing because Sprint's picturemail system is not capable of being used with incoming on acrsoft. Arcsoft will say theres a new message but will not pull the picture from the server because its not a traditional MMS system. this has been discussed in great length in old MMS threads and im not going to sit here and try to conivnce you that its simply not possible |

Sir you do not need to argue with me, we are all on the same team. Here I reinstalled. There is a popup that says retrieving message.

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
Hey all,
Just to clarify, I don't use arcsoft to view my incoming pictures (have not even tried, since I think it's quicker just to open the link in the message). I am just RELEIVED that there is a working app that integrates the SEND button into the rom of the phone (or at least takes you to outlook to click on the proper account). Smms was too fancy, and The official sprint release would never open due to 'low memory' So, for quick sending, this works perfect for me. However, the version that I linked to in my OP is from 2005 - there are many newer versions out there (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404345) but even after updating all of the server info on the newer versions to the same as the working version, the newer versions just won't work. It sends 'correctly' but the messages are never received. Oh well, I am happy with the older version for now, I was just confused as to why the newer ones wouldn't work as well. Oh yea, this version also works (http://rapidshare.com/files/47528882...ntMMS.zip.html) but I think it may be the same as the version I posted above - can anyone compare version numbers? I am unable to at the moment. Glad I could help some of you, Matt! |

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
either way i think its a moot point to continue debating because I will agree it locks up poutlook so that makes arcsoft less than a very useful solution either way

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
Touch08,
Well, for Mogul users, this seems to be the best solution since the Official MMS release from sprint only loads properly 5% of the time, and SmmS takes many steps to send a pic, and is a rather large program (feature-wise). As I mentioned before Arcsoft is wonderful because and anytime I want, I can hit SEND from a submenue of a picture and have it (arcsoft) pop up instantly! It doesn't lock my outlook at all.... Also, how are you guys getting to the section with the 'stored' incoming pictures within arcsoft? I would like to check that out on my Mogul... Later, Matt! |
Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
Nobody has experience with the newer versions?
Thanks, Matt! |

and so far your looking at the only 2 people on the fourms who have been able to somehow receive so youll have to ask one of them. |
Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
guys, I need to confirm that mine is also receiving to the Arcsoft MMS Inbox, it's a Touch Pro running on the latest Juggalo's TP ROM, and NO, it doesn't have the official Sprint PictureMail program. I have not done anything special, I just installed it and changed the server as specified on a thread around here. so yeah, I have what seems like the third "magical" phone :p

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
again all jokes aside it doesnt matter because Arcsoft will lock up you outlook after a while i will concede with notrock, so its moot at least for diamond/pro users. And obviously its not working perfectly as not everyone can receive, might depend how your account was setup and what phone you had previously. (picturemail is setup up differently if you came from any older device to come as texts, and differently when you came from a diamond because it had sprints app out of the box.)

i don't know why we are kicking a dead horse here. if it's a moot point, then just move on. i ran arcsoft on my phone for a few days before i did the edits in the op and did not notice any difference. though i did not really test it fully until after i did the edits. maybe if i feel up to it i'll change it back and run it through the tests. i have my brother on T-mobile send me pics with his razor. i still don't know why this isn't a huge thread. when sprint killed arcsoft a year ago there were 1000 of threads with 1000000 of people complaining. now it's just "eehh, so what". |

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
delawaresace,
I aggree completely - I have used Sprint's MMS and sMMS - and Arcsoft is just so much cleaner and quicker....not to mention, it's integrated into the sub menus. The reason that I am so hell-bent on trying to get a newer version (newer than 3.x in my OP) working is that the new ones have auto-fill from outlook in the "to:" fields - so that saves even a bit more time. If you are bored, give one of them a shot here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404345 As you know, the info you want is: Server Name: SprintPCS gateway: left blank port number: 80 server address: http://63.215.195.152/servlets/mms Connect via: INTERNET Sending size limitation: 350k wap: wap 2.0 Ya know, I haven't tried the above info in the newer version while using the "connect via" option of SPRINT. I have always used the INTERNET option. I wonder if that makes a difference.... Later, Matt! |

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
I have a question. Can anyone send video with Arcsoft MMS? I try and it says format not supported. The format I had was MP4. I am using an htc touch. I can send and recieve pictures with the app but like most of us mine comes in as a text. DO you have to have an outlook account for the mms to come through that way? Thanks for the help if anyone took the time to answer.

Re: How to get ARCSOFT MMS to work perfectly on Sprint (Mogul) as of 12-12-08
not sure if this counts, but i have a touch and it worked it let me send but the message i sent to myself came back in my text inbox not the mms inbox. so when i opened it it gave me the link to my sprint mail. so is there somthing else i should do to get it to come in on my mms inbox, also it doesnt lock up but it freezes for a couple seconds when i try to get into my text messaging now, but if i can send video and sound wich i havnt tried yet then the freezing is worth it, but i also did a hard reset recently so i still have alot of tweaking to do so maybe it will work better after that:tshirt:
