Re: Barcode Scanner in here (Like the G1) [APP]

I installed and it worked fine other than it's really difficult to get a good photo of many barcodes. I've tried no zoom and zoom with the same results.

I have been successful both landscape and portrait modes....Keep the phone about 3-4 inches away from the barcode and it should pick it up no problem. Make sure the zoom is all the way out as well.

Thumbs up Re: Barcode Scanner in here (Like the G1) [APP]

In order to use the pricegrabber setting you will have to set your browser to spoof a desktop browser instead of the mobil version. This is the line from Baffles Touch Pro essentials post
"Change useragent in Opera Mobile to view full websites instead of mobile versions. Info here."
Correct pricegrabber setting should be
RUN=\windows\OperaL.exe
RUNARGS=http://www.pricegrabber.com/search.php?form_keyword=!###!
the last ! was missing in some of the posts, I don't know if it makes a difference but these settings work for me. I have my phone set to use Opera Mobil with the desktop spoof on.

Re: Barcode Scanner in here (Like the G1) [APP]

To get a better capture also make sure your camera is parallel to the barcode. It seems to work a lot beter this way. It feels more natural have the camera angled a bit but try to force your self to keep the camera perfectly parallel to the box or whatever the barcode is on when you capture the image.
This app is great. Thanks to all

Maybe try to keep a tally of which sites have the best barcode database or which sites people are having the most success with. So far I'm using fastpricecheck but I've only done a small sampling so I don't have much to compare it with yet.

Re: Barcode Scanner in here (Like the G1) [APP]

I like using fastpricecheck because it links to Amazon reviews and product descriptions.

When you can't get a good picture of the barcode, Fastpricecheck also has its own Windows Mobile app. You can just input the barcode number into the app and get the same pricing results.

Are the results shown in a browser window or within the app?
