There's also a new 3d barcode scanner available directly from Microsoft. It scans a trianglular colored barcode that Microsoft has come up with. You can download OTA by going to nextag.mobi Uses your camera also but really don't know of what use it is.

The address for the Microsoft tag reader is www.gettag.mobi/ not nextag.mobi ;)

Hello PPCGeeks ;)

I'm Hypest, developer of Barcorama. I want to thank you all on the warm support on the project! just recently updated it, to include preliminary support for the companion website I had in mind from the beginning of the development.

http://costpad.com

Use the site to log your personal purchases. The key point is that this info is used by the costpad engine to automatically provide other users with updated info on products and shopping locations. Also, you can view basic statistics for your purchases. More things will come, but building a database of products and shops/locations is useful and will take time (only greek products and shops are currently included...). So, perhaps you want to give it a try :)

Personal data are not shared. Personal info/profile protection is very important and I have some ideas to implement on that matter. The site is under development ofcourse, but at least me and my girlfriend use it daily to keep track of our spendings.

After registering you can use Barcorama >v0.9 to submit purchases...

I would really like to hear any comments from you guys (and gals?).

thanx and have fun,
hypest

First off, I was disappointed that it was Barcodearama that was posted here. I have already tried the problem and was VERY disappointed in its functional results.
I thought you were posting about a program that was actually functional like the G1 app. Because i am interested in a functional version of the program that actually work. This still doesn't work and the fact it needs 3rd part web browering to look up data that it doesn't seem to functionally find.
Please post something better.

sure, we'll just reach around and pull one from behind..?..
don't like it, write your own app. Hypest has spent a great deal of time putting this together and is providing it for FREE. I'm assuming there are some differences with the omnia causing you some trouble. if you would calm down and provide detailed info on you problem (or search) I'm sure help won't be far away..

You post something better. BTW though not user friendly, he did a great job of making it customizable so you can make it do a search with any search engine and any browser... I would like it to be prettier... but if that's ALL I cared about I would have an iPhone. I'm sure by v1 it will be a great app, especially with feedback from helpful users/testers.
