Re: How Do I Rename This File With Total Commander?!
I just did the step you are talking about.. I was not able to re-name it either.. I just copied the new shellres.192.dll into /windows, than turned it off, turned it back on and it was all set to go.. I didn't have to rename the file..

Re: How Do I Rename This File With Total Commander?!
You'll need to use resco explorer for that. And you may have better luck using resco to copy your modified file over the old file. An overwrite works for sure, I'm not sure about renaming a system file...

Re: How Do I Rename This File With Total Commander?!
I can't rename dll's with tc either. I am trying to replace some dll's per the steps shown in the custom taskbar thread. If I try to rename it, it will just switch back. Very anoying - not sure what to do now

Re: How Do I Rename This File With Total Commander?!
Are you replacing it with a modified file? I use TC and here's what I do. I first copy the original file into my "Original DLLs" folder, go to the file that needs to be changed, add " . bak " to the end, and go to the file that's replacing the old one, copy/move it to the directory and that's that.
