Oh I totally undesrtand there's a lot involved, as a former developer, lead designer and now architect I can appreciate that. I understand they have to make money and the vast differences in operating systems, screen resoutions, touch vs non-touch, no/limited/full APIs, etc. makes it very difficult - but most of the apps for pocket pcs look like they were designed by 12 year olds, and half of the documentation/marketing for these companies reads like they just barely p***** an English as a Second Language course online. Where's MS in all of this? You would think they would have much higher quality development efforts going on and could afford to create front ends for the 3 or 4 most popular size screens.

chetlet, looks like we have followed parallel paths. I, too, am lead designer and architect. Although I still keep my hand in development a bit (as small a bit as possible).

Just remember the old saw I am sure you have heard time and again:
Speed, Quality, Price. Pick any two.

There is more short-term profit to be had opting for Speed (to market) and Price.

That is a good phrase... I think your idea about short-term profit is true...
